A containerized bridge module 2 is described which can be secured end-to-end with other similar modules to form a simple-beam bridge span having a substantially trapezoidal cross-section. The module comprises a road deck 6 which forms the upper chord of the simple beam structure and a lower chord 7. The shear loading in the simple beam structure is transmitted between the upper and lower chords by means of parallel inner truss elements 33 and angled outer truss elements 31. The road deck 6 comprises a medial road deck portion 6 M and two lateral road deck portions 6 L which are hinged at 14 to fold down into a retracted configuration for transport. The angled outer truss elements 31 may be articulated to permit this retraction and to facilitate deployment. In its retracted state, the bridge module 2 fits within a rectangular cuboid 21 which has the dimensions 22, 23 of a standard shipping container.

The invention concerns a temporary bridge, including bridge components (1-4), intended to be stacked when said bridge is in a non-deployed position. According to the invention, these bridge components (1-4) comprise moveable pieces relative to the others.
