In order to provide a seal which is suitable for different throughflow quantities, a sealing system (10) has a working platform (12) which is arranged above a water region (24) of a region (26) of a body of water to be sealed. A first feeding device (14) outputs webs of a flexible concrete formwork cover (30) on a working area (28). The webs are connected by way of a connecting device (16) to produce a continuous sealing surface (33). A lowering ramp (18) is fastened with a first end (34) to the working platform and can be lowered in the direction of the bottom of the body of water with a second end (36) which lies opposite the first end, in order to extend obliquely downwards in the lowered state (P7). The lowering ramp assists the sealing surface during the introduction into the water and during the depositing on the bottom of the body of water. A second feeding device (20) introduces a concrete material into cavities in a central region (38) of the concrete formwork cover which is situated on the lowering ramp, in order to lower the concrete formwork cover over the lowering ramp until contact on a bottom surface (40) of a body of water. The working platform is moved along the body of water by way of a movement device (22).

A gutter block structure of the present invention has a configuration in which a vegetable fiber layer made of palm fibers or the like is integrally attached to an inner surface of a water-permeable concrete material, sidewall surfaces which serve as the inner surface are formed into a stepped shape, and a bottom surface which serves as the inner surface is formed into an irregular shape. Further, both the sidewalls are formed into a curved shape or S-shape. Thus, when a water channel is formed by the gutter block structures, the supply and drain of water between the water channel and the surrounding soil is enabled, the flow velocity of water can be reduced, and zones with different flow velocities can be provided. Thus, an environment at the water channel and around the water channel can be closer to a natural condition, and an environment for growing underwater creatures can be brought into a fairly good condition.

A method of lining an irrigation canal (10) with a sheet of fiber-reinforced plastic includes the steps of depositing a layer of resin and fiber on a web of flexible carrier material, partially curing the resin prior to laying the sheet in the canal, and then laying the sheet in the canal while the resin is flexible enough to conform to the shape of the canal. The final curing of the resin takes place after the sheet is placed in the canal. A predetermined-shape wrinkle (38) is induced in the carrier web before it is laid into the canal to assist in conforming the sheet to the canal shape without causing randomly placed wrinkles so that the sheet is smooth in the canal. An apparatus (18) is disclosed that forms the sheet and is propelled so that it travels along the length of the canal, fabricating a continuous sheet as it travels. In one embodiment the carrier is a flexible but nonelastic material like kraft paper, coated on one side with wax or other film to prevent saturation by the resin.
