The invention relates to a method for down-the-hole drilling, the drilling being carried out by an apparatus, having a drilling device (1) that comprises a casing part (2) and at least during a drilling situation an essentially inside thereof existing drilling unit (3), at the drilling head of which there are at least first drilling means (4) for drilling a center hole, second drilling means (5) for reaming the center hole for the casing part (2) and a pneumatic flushing flow arrangement (6) for leading of drilling waste by influence of pressurized air at least partly upward, whereby the first drilling means (4) are coupled with the second drilling means (5) first of all power-transmittedly in order to carry out cooperation thereof at least during a drilling situation with the second drilling means (5) for a rotational motion (w4), a feeding motion (z4) and/or a hammering motion (t4), and on the other hand removably in order to enable removal thereof from the hole. Furthermore the casing part (2) is arranged to be drawn into a hole to be drilled by the drilling unit (3). Particularly direct aiming of a flushing air flow (HV) at the soil is being prevented by directing the flushing air at an end of the drilling unit (3) into a counterpart surface arrangement (X) on the drilling surface (Pl and/or P2) existing of the first and/or second drilling means in order to decrease kinetic energy of the flushing air flow (HV) by changing its flow direction on the drilling surface prior to drifting thereof into the ground. The rock drilling rig (1) is combustion engine (DI) operated and is provided with a flushing system (FS) including a compressor (CO) for producing pressurized air. The compressor is driven by an electric drive motor (CM). The combustion engine is connected to drive a generator (GEN) which produces electric energy that is stored in an energy storage (BAT). The stored electric energy can be utilized in driving the compressor.

The invention relates to a method for pneumatically picking up soil for suction dredges, using a suction tube (3) having a crown (11) disposed at the lower end and an air supply device (10) for supplying pressurized air to the crown (11), thereby producing a pressurized air flow which loosens the soil in the area of the crown (11). The pressurized air flow below the crown (11) is blown into the soil in parallel to the cross-sectional plane of the crown (11), thereby detaching a soil core which has approximately the same size as the internal width of the crown (11) or smaller and which is sucked off through the suction tube (3). The invention also relates to a device for carrying out the inventive method which comprises at least one pointed tube (1) which projects beyond the crown (11) downward in the direction parallel to the center axis (30) of the suction tube (3). Said pointed tube is adapted for blowing a pressurized air flow into the soil below the crown (11) in parallel to a cross-sectional plane of the same for detaching a soil core and sucking the same off through the suction tube (3).

A method of controlling the environment intermediate a laser head and a targeted portion of a bore wall to remove solid material at the wall includes running an umbilical into the bore to position the head, irradiating the targeted portion of the wall using laser light, sensing a light spectrum resulting from irradiation of the solid material, comparing the sensed light spectrum to a light spectrum corresponding to favorable irradiation of the solid material, adjusting the rate of introduction of a laser-compatible material to displace laser-incompatible materials from the laser light path to obtain more favorable irradiation of the solid material. The method enable the conservation of the source of the laser- compatible material or improved irradiation of the solid material for solid removal by using the laser to cut, heat, fracture or melt the solid material.
