An upper portion above the welded portion of the long leg is formed with a cut (10) extending obliquely upwards toward the short leg so that a thin breakable portion (9) is formed in the long leg between the end of the cut (10) and the contact surface with the short leg. A washer (11) for clamping the legs above the cut (10) is provided. When the nail (1) is driven, the legs (2,3) will not spread until the head of the short leg (5) abuts the washer (11). When the head abuts the washer, the long leg (2) slides outwards and spreads apart from the short leg (3) near the cut (10). The breakable portion (9) will thus get broken and the nail (1) will spread.

The device is in two parts, namely a blade-shaped member with diverging side edges (2) in the direction in which it is intended to be driven into a substructure for taking up the load intended to be placed on the device, and a locking member for locking the support member in its driven-in position.
