A spout-fluid bed drying system and process is comprised of a spout-fluid bed dryer (10) having a conical shaped lower section (19) provided with a packing of heat exchange particles (15). A cyclone separator (20) is connected to the top (14) of the dryer with separated particles collected by a receiver (24) connected to the leg of the cyclone (20). A vapor fan (38) compresses the air-vapor mixture before it goes to the heat recuperator (32) and mixing chamber (33). A tube-shell type heat exchange (32) wherein effluent gases from the vapor fan (38) are preheated with heat exchange with the outcoming high temperature gases. A combustion and incineration chamber (30) wherein a natural gas burner (31) is installed at the top and the high temperature flame is used to incinerate the effluent gases introduced from the annulus channel of the chamber to have the odors and VOCs destroyed. A mixing chamber (33) wherein high temperature stream from the incineration chamber (30) is mixed with low temperature stream from the vapor fan (38) to serve as the drying media with the temperature maintained at around 400 DEG C. A slurry discharge nozzle (17) is disposed below the packing (15) and connected to a slurry container via piping (60, 18) and a slurry pump (61) for releasing slurry to the surface of the particles within the packing (15). Evaporation of water occurs mostly on the surface of particles by contact with hot drying media. A gas-air mixture is fed to the burner (31) through a feed pipe line (40) wherein fresh air is supplied from an air blower (47).

A liquid material drying method whereby a large amount of medium particles (6) are placed on a dispersion plate (9) inside a drying vessel (4), the medium particles (6) are fluidized by means of heated gas blown up through said dispersion plate (9), and supplied liquid material (M) is dried by being caused to adhere to the surfaces of the medium particles (6), the solid component contained in the liquid material being collected continuously in the form of powder, wherein a whirling upward airflow caused by the heated gas is formed, at the least, in the region of the drying vessel (4) above the fluidized layer of medium particles (6), the solid component in the liquid material having detached from the surfaces of the aforementioned medium particles being caused to disperse, float and dry further in this whirling upward airflow.
