There is disclosed a field gun (100) that may be converted between a firing condition and a travelling condition. In the firing condition, front legs (30) and back legs (20) rest on the ground and support the gun. In the travelling condition, the back legs (20) are out of contact with the ground and the front legs (30) are retracted towards the gun chassis. To facilitate conversion, a link (40,60) joins a front leg (30) to a back leg (20) so that as the back leg (30) is lifted off the ground, the front leg (20) is retracted.

L'unité mobile permet d'effectuer rapidement plusieurs tirs et de se dégager aussitôt après de l'emplacement de tir. L'unité comprend un véhicule porteur (1), un mortier (2) monté par l'intermédiaire d'une articulation (4) sur une plaque de base (6). Des moyens sont prévus pour permettre la mise en contact rapide avec le sol de la plaque de base, ceci afin de prendre appui sur ce dernier pendant le tir. Ces moyens permettent également de remonter ladite plaque afin de permettre au véhicule de dégager rapidement l'emplacement de tir. La principale réalisation de ces moyens est de doter le véhicule porteur d'une suspension escamotable permettant de descendre le véhicule jusq'au sol. Une liaison élastique (8) est prévue entre la plaque de base (6) et le châssis (7) du véhicule porteur, pour permettre un mouvement relatif de l'ensemble constitué du mortier et de la plaque de base par rapport au châssis. Cette invention intéresse les constructeurs d'engins militaires.

The undercarriage (11, 111) can be supported in relation to the ground beneath by means of a supporting device (16, 116) that is damped in order to absorb firing recoil forces, the damping characteristics of the supporting device (16, 116) being adjustable in accordance with the firing recoil forces that are to be expected from the weapon (13, 113). The invention also relates to a military vehicle (1) comprising a weapons platform (10, 110) of this type. The invention further relates to a method for operating such a weapons platform (10, 110).
