A method for direction limitation of a firing system. A first calculating unit controls the firing system and knows direction limitation positions. An elevation of the firing system and a traverse of the firing system are measured. A position of the firing system is calculated in the first calculating unit based on the elevation and traverse. The position of the firing system is calculated in a second calculating unit based on the elevation and traverse. The calculated positions of the firing system are compared with direction limitation positions. It is decided whether the firing system is positioned outside the direction limitation positions. Also, a direction limitation system for a firing system.

Da leichte Fahrzeuge (11) nicht mit mehreren richtbaren Werfern (13) für Abwehrgranaten (15) bestückt werden können, ergeben sich durch benachbarte Aufbauten wie insbesondere eine Waffenstation (12) Abschattungssektoren (16), in die vom Werfer (13) aus keine Abwehrgranaten (15) verbracht werden können. Um das Fahrzeug (11) auch gegen Angriffe aus solchen Azimutsektoren (16) zu schützen, wird es zusätzlich mit nicht richtbaren Werferrohren (14) bestückt, welche die Abschattungssektoren (16) erfassen. Vorzugsweise werden für die starre Ausrichtung die gleichen austauschbaren Werferrohre (14) eingesetzt, mit denen auch der richtbare Werfer (13) bestückt wird.

The present invention relates to a military vessel (1) with a directable weapon (7, 8) and an aerial (9, 10), wherein the aerial (9, 10) can be swivelled from a first position, in which the aerial is arranged substantially vertically, into a second position, in which the height of the aerial above the vessel is reduced in comparison with the first position to increase the directing range of the weapon (7, 8). A gun pod, mounted on a fixed-wing aerial vehicle, stores, delivers, controls and supports a controllable movement gun unit. The gun pod includes a flexible gun mount, gun movement actuators, gun movement controllers, a standalone range finder, a standalone processor, and standalone sensors for capturing dynamically environmental data and for controlling the movement of the gun unit. The gun is provided with allowable ranges of movement in the elevation and the azimuth where the ranges are determined in accordance with the flight envelope of the aerial vehicle, the characteristics of the gun unit and the mounting location of the gun pod. The movement of the gun is either controlled manually or automatically.
