摘要:
A blasting system including a plurality of detonators located in respective boreholes, which is implemented through the use of a remotely controlled vehicle used for survey purposes and for locating geographical positions of the boreholes.

A mobile manufacturing and delivery platform that is adapted to provide in a blasthole an explosive composition comprising a liquid energetic material and sensitizing voids, the sensitizing voids being present in the liquid energetic material with a non-random distribution. The platform comprises a storage tank for the liquid energetic material; at least two delivery lines for conveying respective streams of the liquid energetic material from the storage tank; a void delivery system for producing sensitizing voids in at least one of the streams of liquid energetic material; a mixer for mixing the streams of liquid energetic material to produce the explosive composition; and a blasthole loading hose. The mixer may be provided at the end of the loading hose. A blasting method employs the platform to manufacture and deliver the explosive composition into a blasthole, which composition is subsequently detonated.

An improved test setup facility, referred to as a 'Quick Development Cell' (QDC), which allows for rapid turnaround testing with valuable feedback to a design engineer. Because the QDC allows for quick and efficient testing at a sufficient frequency, QDC tests are compatible with production quality control. In addition to fostering improvement of the API's Section 2 type tests using stressed natural rock for benchmark experiments, the QDC tests allow for progress to be made towards the development of a flow-optimized shape charge and superior well performance.

A device for receiving an explosive material comprises a receptacle unit (103) for receiving the explosive material (110), and an anchoring unit (212), wherein the anchoring unit is arranged on an. outer surface of the receptacle unit, and wherein the anchoring unit is adapted to anchor the flexible receptacle unit in a borehole.

A stemming arrangement for a blast hole (1) having at least one explosive charge (3) therein is disclosed. The stemming arrangement comprises a hollow generally spherical member (4) arranged in use in the blast hole outwardly of the associated explosive charge (3). Detonation of the explosive charge (3) deforms the hollow member (4) so as to substantially block the bore of the blast hole (1) at the location of the hollow member (4) to substantially impede outward passage of material passed the hollow member (4). The hollow member (4) is made of sufficiently strong material to remain substantially functionally intact after detonation of the associated explosive charge (3).
摘要:
A method of charging hole (12) drilled in rock or concrete (10), the method including inserting a quantity of energetic material (14) on or near the bottom (16) of hole (12). Lead (28) connects initiator (18) with an initiation source at ground level. Hole (12) is filled with stemming material (20) to a level (L) and plug (22) is positioned to rest on stemming material (20). Lead (28) threads through plug (22) via a slot, recess or passage. Mass (30) such as the bucket of excavator (32) and plug (22) prevent stemming material (20) from being blown out of hole (12) when energetic material (14) is detonated. The risk of collar area (C) being fragmented and energised to produce fly rock is reduced since the length of plug (22) is commensurate with the length of collar area (C). Plug (22) and stemming material (20) can be replaced by a stemming bar, with the stemming bar attached directly to energetic material (14).

Rock and other hard materials, such as concrete, are broken by a combination of a mechanical impact breaker (33, 47) and a small-charge blasting process. A mechanical impact breaker (33, 47) fragments rock by delivering a series of mechanical blows to the rock. The fracturing process is accomplished by pressurizing the bottom of a drill hole (9) in such a way as to initiate and propagate a controlled fracture (18, 30) or propagate any pre-existing fractures near the hole-bottom (12). In practice, a small-charge blasting method is used to fracture and partially break out the center portion of the excavation. A mechanical impact breaker (33, 47) can then be used efficiently to further break and dislodge the rock that has been weakened by the small-charge blasting.
