摘要: A method for compensating a reference frequency shift due to an interaction of resonant light provided by a resonant light source (10) with atoms of an atomic beam (B) crossing a resonant microwave cavity (5) between light interaction zones (6, 7) comprises the steps of:
toggling (S1) a wavelength of the provided resonant light between a main optical pumping transition (OPT1) and an alternate optical pumping transition (OPT2) of the atoms of the atomic beam while a frequency of the microwave probe signal fed into the microwave cavity (5) is modulated with a frequency modulation depth (FMD); and
computing (S2) a wavelength modulation compensation error signal (WM-CES) depending on the measured signal amplitudes of Ramsey fringes used to control the frequency of the microwave probe signal fed into the microwave cavity (5).

摘要: An accelerometer arrangement and method are described for determining accelerations of an inground tool. First and second triaxial accelerometers are supported such that a normal sensing axis of the first triaxial accelerometer is at least generally orthogonal to the normal sensing axis of the second triaxial accelerometer for determining the accelerations along the three orthogonal axes based on a combination of sensing axis outputs from one or both of the triaxial accelerometers. A weaker sensing axis of one triaxial accelerometer can be supported at least approximately normal to a weaker sensing axis of another triaxial accelerometer such that the weaker axes are not used. The triaxial accelerometers can be supported such that one axis of one accelerometer can be redundant with respect to another axis of another accelerometer. One triaxial accelerometer can be mounted on a tilted plane with respect to another triaxial accelerometer.

摘要: A system method and computer-readable medium for correcting measurements obtained by a down hole tool for residual measurement errors is disclosed. A down hole tool having at least two directional field sensors is disposed in a borehole. The at least two directional sensors are substantially orthogonal to each other and to a longitudinal axis of the down hole tool. Measurements are obtained from the at least two directional sensors during rotation of the tool by at least 360 degrees around the longitudinal axis of the tool. Residual measurement errors are determined for the obtained measurements, and a quality level of the determined residual measurement errors selected. The determined residual measurement errors are applied to the obtained measurements when the determined residual measurement errors are consistent with the selected quality level. In various embodiments, the residual measurement errors are reduced from a first value that does not match the selected quality level to a second value that are consistent with the selected quality level.
