All printing elements of a printing dot have all around straight sides which have different lengths and encompass different sized angles. The clearings between adjacent printing elements have a constant width around a printing element. Due to said geometric arrangement of multishaped printing elements, namely polygons, straight lines are always obtained in any given printing dot regardless of their direction on the surface. Moiré effects are also prevented in four-color printing.

摘要： The printing element has the shape of a propeller. All printing elements of a printing dot have S-shaped and equally large sides all around. The clearings between adjacent printing elements have a constant width around a printing element. Due to said configuration, it is possible to mirror the printing element around a central axis while preserving the form of a printing element in such a way that only round corners are obtained since sharp corners would provoke an unstable image causing moiré effects. Said printing element form is particularly useful in four-color printing.

摘要： The photoscreen (32, 70 or 80) for making a halftone reproduction (50) from a photograph (30) is used in a process where the photograph (30) is placed in a reproducing position (16) relative to a reproducing apparatus (10) and the screen (32, 70 or 80) is interposed between the photograph (30) and the reproducing means of the reproducing apparatus (10) so that upon operation of the reproducing apparatus (10), a half- tone reproduction (50) is created. The photoscreen (70 or 80) comprises a sheet of transparent material (78) having on the bottom surface (75) thereof an array of light modulating, varying density, light gray, vignetting dots (72 or 82) mixed with an array of light modulating white dots (74 or 84) preferably printed on the top surface (79) thereof.
