摘要:
Methods, systems and apparatus for cleaning phonograph records are disclosed. In some embodiments, a phonograph record can be cleaned in a liquid basin using ultrasonic transducers, wherein the liquid basin has a dampening structure. Also, the ultrasonic transducers are disposed on a flexible wall for reducing vibrations of the cleaner.

Methods and apparatus for increasing the reliability of removable storage media by dynamically reducing particulate contaminants from magnetic disks. The apparatus and methods include using a wiper (30, 40) which slidingly engages the magnetic disk as the disk rotates, in order to reduce particulates. In some embodiments, the wiper (30, 40) can be coupled to a swing-type actuator (50) or to any resilient member which can be moved over the surface of the disk.

Deteriorated or aged magnetic recording media exhibiting undesirable properties such as shed, stickiness or squeal are restored to playable condition having no such objectionable properties by heating the media to an elevated temperature and for lengths of time sufficient to restore the media. A typical temperature used is 54°C and a typical effective time is 16 hours. Ambient humidity is suitable. The restored media can be used to transfer data or information to new media. Restored media can also be again heat treated for restoration purposes, if it deteriorates again.

According to a method for cleaning a disc record having a groove area, the disc record is held relative to a megasonic transducer (10) to form a gap (13) between at least a portion of the groove area and the megasonic transducer (10), the gap (13) is filled at least partially with a process fluid (43), and the megasonic transducer (10) is controlled to transmit megasonic vibrations into the process fluid (43) towards at least the portion of the groove area. The invention also relates to an apparatus (1) for cleaning a disc record.

A holder for holding a card-like electronic device such as a semiconductor storage medium or an expansion module so as to prevent dust, particles, and water droplets from adhering to it. Even a large number of card-like electronic devices can be held, stored, and organized readily and adequately. The holder comprises a holder body having a device loading cavity where at least a part of a card-like electronic device is plugged, and the holder body has a support portion in which a through hole for suspending the holder is formed. A projection engageable with a recess provided to the card-like electronic device so as to hold the card-like electronic device is formed in the device loading cavity. Since such a holder holds the card-like electronic device, the holder can prevent the card-like electronic device from being lost more reliably than when the card-like electronic device is not held in the holder and can prevent dust, particles, and water droplets from adhering to the card-like electronic device.

A cleaner unit is provided for applying a liquid cleaning solution onto the surface of an information disk, such as a so-called compact laser disk or the like. The cleaner unit comprises a housing with a rotatable spindle adapted to support the information disk in a generally horizontal orientation, in combination with a circulation system having a rotatable pump impeller for spraying a jet of a cleaning solution onto the underside of the disk near the spindle. A drive motor is operated by a control circuit for initially rotating the spindle and impeller in a first direction for spraying the cleaning solution against the spinning disk, with the rotational disk movement causing the cleaning solution to spread radially outwardly as a film over the underside disk surface. The cleaning solution is thrown from the disk periphery and is captured by an outer contoured deflector shroud for recirculation to the pump impeller. At the conclusion of a short cleaning cycle, the control circuit reverses the direction of spindle and impeller rotation to spin the disk in an opposite or second direction for the duration of a short dry cycle, without applying cleaning solution to the disk.
