A circuit breaker superior in heat resistance, arc resistance and over-travel characteristic, and suitable for recycling or reuse is provided. The circuit breaker includes an open/close mechanism (7, 28, 29, 31, 32) for opening and closing a moving contact (5, 25) through a retention holder (6, 26) turnably holding the moving contact (5, 25), and a base (2, 21) for turnably holding the retention holder (6, 26) and holding a stationary side contact (10, 23). Detection of any over-current causes the moving contact (5, 25) to turn, and an arc-extinguishing device (9, 34) extinguishes arc generated between the contacts. Further the base (2, 21) of the circuit breaker is formed of an insulating molded article, which is mainly composed of a crystalline thermoplastic resin and is irradiated with electron beams after molding.

There is disclosed a switch including a molded article composed of a flame retardant material, which flame retardant material includes from 35 to 50% by weight of a resin, from 20 to 60% by weight of a reinforcement, from 5 to 40% by weight of an inorganic compound and from 0.3 to 1.8% by weight of red phosphorus flame retarder, and which inorganic compound undergoes dehydration reaction at temperatures equal to or higher than a predetermined temperature. The switch according to the invention is satisfactory in flame retardancy and resistance to metal contamination or metal corrosion.

An improved miniature circuit breaker (1, 2) is adapted to improved automatic assembly of all components thereof. Key components of the breaker are individually and collectively designed to be susceptible to total Z-axis assembly. In particular, the trip mechanism (6) including the trip lever (31), and the associated activation means (75), tension means (43) and reset means (35) are defined by elements designed to interact in a Z-axis assemblable fashion. The trip mechanism components (6) are also designed for improved trip action and enhanced breaker performance in repeated CLOSED, and TRIP operations.

An organic and inorganic complex composition wherein the resin content is at 15 to 70 wt % and the content of one or more inorganic compounds capable of dehydration at 150 DEG C or more is at 80 to 30 wt %. When the composition is exposed to combustion, inorganic compounds being capable of dehydration at 150 DEG C or more and being contained in the organic and inorganic complex composition generate steam, which then suppresses combustion. Simultaneously, endothermic reaction during steam generation deprives combustion heat. A switch having a molded article of which the entirety or a part is composed of an organic and inorganic complex composition is provided, wherein the base inside 2a of the base of a box is composed of for example an organic and inorganic complex composition with the resin content at 15 to 70 wt % and the content of one or more inorganic compounds capable of dehydration at 150 DEG C or more at 80 to 30 wt %.
