    摘要: This invention describes a crystalline alumina loaded cavity resonator which has low loss and high frequency stability such that its frequency is well-defined and only weakly perturbed by temperature, pressure and mechanical changes in its environment. Basically the resonator is a single crystal of sapphire (1) having protusions (2) and (2') fitting closely into recesses in the base (3) and lid (3') of a niobium housing. The lid (3') is clamped by groove (4) and having a indium seal to seal the lid (3') to the side walls (5) at groove (6) in lid (3'). A microwave probe (7) is used to couple microwave power into the cavity through hole (8).

    摘要: It is described a microwave metallic cavity, the resonating frequency of which is stabilized versus operating temperature variations. The said stabilization is achieved by implementing the cavity with a conical base (3) having a thickness and a coefficient of linear expansion smaller than the ones of the cavity cylidrical body (1). In this way the volume enclosed by the conical base (3) varies in inverse ratio versus operat­ing temperature variations, so as to compensate the variation in volume of the cavity cylindrical body (1), which results in a stabilization of the resonating frequency.

    摘要: In a microwave device, particularly a microwave local oscillator, frequency variations due to temperature changes are reduced by supporting the tuning element, for example a quartz or sapphire crystal (34), in the end of a tube (18) of INVAR or other material having a low thermal coefficient of expansion. The tube projects into the cavity (12) from a hole in one wall thereof. Preferably the tube is positively located relative to the cavity by means of an external lip (20) on the tube abutting a shoulder (22) formed by a reduced diameter part of the hole adjacent the cavity. The lip (20) may be urged into positive contact with the shoulder (22) by a spring washer (24) acting between the end of the tube and the opposed end of a bush (26) screwed into the hole.
