摘要： A tool (T, TA) comprises clamping members (28, 128) that clampingly engage a coaxial cable (10). Drill blocks (38, 138, 139) are secured together onto a plate (24, 124) to which the clamping members are secured and they include opposing holes (44, 50) centrally disposed relative to the clamped cable to enable a drill (50, 156) to pass therethrough to drill opposed openings (56) through the jacket (14) and shielding (16, 18) and into the dielectric sheathing (20) around the center conductor (22), whereafter the drill blocks (38, 138, 139) are removed. A housing of a coaxial connector (12) containing stationary and movable signal probes (58, 60) is mounted on the plate (24,124) to position the signal probes (58, 60) relative to the drilled holes (56) whereafter the movable signal probe (60) is moved into electrical connection with the center conductor (22) and ground conductor members (70) penetrate the jacket (14) and electrically connect with the shielding (16, 18).

摘要： A termination system in an electrical connector for coupling a coaxial cable to a terminal member. A strain relief component includes a crimpable portion for clamping onto the insulation surrounding the conductor of the coaxial cable and an outwardly projecting portion for capturing the drain wire of the cable. The strain relief component is readily applicable for coupling a generally flat undercarpet coaxial cable in a circular connector. A circular clamp nut holds the strain relief component in the connector with the conductor terminated to the terminal member and the drain wire in engagement with the housing of the connector. An adapter is provided between the strain relief component and the circular clamp nut for adapting the flat configuration of the cable to the circular configuration of the clamp nut and connector.

摘要： A connector for providing field installable connections of a data transmitting coaxial cable includes a plug portion (32) housing an electrical contact (36) and a body portion (46) including a camming element (48). The body portion (46) is attached through a strain relief member (50, 52) to a coaxial cable (12), the inner conduction (18) of such cable (12) being exposed. The electrical contact (36) on the plug portion (32) includes a pair of spaced elastically deflectable walls (40, 42) defining an opening (44) forfree receipt of the cable innerconduc- tor (18). As the plug (32) and body (46) portions are coupled, preferably by tightening of threaded portions (32b, 38, 46b), a cam surface (48c) on the camming element (48) engages the deflectable contact walls (40, 42) and radially compresses such walls into contact with the cable inner conductor (18), thereby establishing electrical connection thereto.
