    摘要： An apparatus for synchronizing the reception of a spread-spectrum signal includes a synchronization apparatus having a code-matched filter, a running average unit coupled to the filter, a peak detector coupled to the running average unit, and a synchronizer coupled to the peak detector for providing an index of a peak. A corresponding method includes receiving a spread-spectrum signal having a period comprising a plurality of indexable samples, maintaining a mean array comprising a running mean value for each indexable sample over a variable number of periods, detecting a peak value of the array, calculating an average value of the array, computing a peak-to-average ratio in accordance with the detected peak value and the calculated average value, comparing the peak-to-average ratio against a time-varying threshold, and synchronizing the received signal when the peak-to-average ratio exceeds the current value of the threshold.

    摘要： A method according to an embodiment obtains a list of peaks for each of a number of frequency hypotheses. Each peak has an energy result and corresponds to a code phase hypothesis. Embodiments include methods and apparatus that may be used in identifying a location of a signal (such as a GPS signal) in a two-dimensional search space. Location information may be further applied to operations such as signal acquisition, signal tracking, position location of a receiver, and timing operations such as the synchronization of one or more other processes.

    摘要： A searcher (10) for mobile station of a cellular telephony network. Pilot signal from nearby base stations are correlated with a pseudonoise sequence inside a search window, using a bank of correlators (20). Each correlator (20) is assigned a different delay, from among a sequence of delays in the window (14). At each delay, correlation is performed initially for a first dwell time. If the resulting correlation value exceeds a threshold, the correlation is continued for a second dwell time. Otherwise, the correlator (20) is set to the next delay in the sequence. Only the outputs of second dwell correlations are used to identify the nearest base station. Some correlations may perform first dwell correlations at new delays in the same time that other correlators are still performing second dwell correlations at old delays in the window.

    摘要： This invention provides a configurable multi-dwell search engine (200) for performing automated efficient searches of a known code sequence space. Inputs from a multi-dwell table (202) and a finger control table (204) are multiplexed by a first multiplexer (206). Output from the first multiplexer is used to generate a threshold comparison signal. The generated threshold comparison signal, the current dwell state signal and inputs from a next dwell look-up table (212) are multiplexed by a second multiplexer (210). The second multiplexer outputs a hard hit signal and an offset control signal.
