Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for coating a tension member, in particular for conveyor belts, in particular a tension member which is in the form of a steel rope. The method according to the invention allows complete penetration of the tension member structure. The method comprises at least the following steps: - reversible compression of the tension member (2), which is designed in the form of a rope structure (2), during coating for a short time and - penetration of the coating mass into the opened rope structure (2), the rope (2) being completely penetrated.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A doctor method and apparatus is disclosed and includes a doctor roll (12) supported in a coater (1) suitable for applying coating to a paper web surface or a roll surface (4) for subsequent transfer to the paper web. The doctor includes a doctor roll (12), a support (11) for the doctor roll (12), a front support (3) for holding the roll support (11) and a rear support or retainer (18) cooperates with and helps stabilize the support (11) and doctor roll (12). The present invention minimizes the variation moving of the doctor roll (12) has on the coating on the moving surface (4), be it web or roll, and thus can improve coating quality.
Abstract:
A coater apparatus (10A) is disclosed for applying a primary flow (36A) of coating material to a moving web of paper (WA). The apparatus (10A) includes a frame (12A) and a first and a second guide roll (38, 40) rotatably supported by the frame (12A). The first and second guide rolls (38, 40) rotate respectively around first and second rotational axes (42, 44). The second axis of rotation (44) is disposed spaced and parallel relative to the first axis (42). A backing blanket (46) extends around and is guided by the guide rolls (38, 40). The blanket (46) defines an endless loop around the guide rolls (38, 40) such that the web of paper (WA) is supported by the blanket (46) during movement of the web (WA) from the first guide roll (38) to the second guide roll (40). The blanket (46) is disposed between the web (WA) and the guide rolls (38, 40). A short dwell coater (14A) is disposed adjacent to the web (WA) and between the guide rolls (38, 40) for applying the primary flow (36A) of coating material to the web (WA). While the web (WA) supported by the blanket (46) is moving between the guide rolls (38, 40), the web (WA) is moving in a plane (P) disposed tangentially relative to the guide rolls (38, 40) such that secondary flows within the coater (14A) are inhibited.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method and apparatus for treating a moving web prior to the applying of a photosensitive coating liquid. In order to suppress the entrapment of air between the coating layer and the web, the surface of the web is electrostatically charged so that the coating liquid will be attracted to the web. Wide variations of the potential distribution across the web are avoided by subjecting the web to heat while simultaneously bleeding off part of the surface potential. The heating step increases the mobility of electrostatic charge and accelerates the charge redistribution across the web. The web is subsequently cooled to a temperature between 5 and 25°C in order to preserve the surface potential of the web until the web is coated.
