摘要: A method of forming a corrugated thermoplastic matrix composite sheet includes preheating a thermoplastic matrix composite sheet (20) including a thermoplastic matrix and a reinforcement material to at least about a melting temperature of the thermoplastic matrix; preheating at least one of a pair of complementary corrugating tools (32,34) to at least about a glass transition temperature of the thermoplastic matrix; compressing the preheated thermoplastic matrix composite sheet between the pair of complementary corrugating tools (32,34) to form a corrugation in the thermoplastic matrix composite sheet; and holding the corrugation between the pair of complementary corrugating tools (32,34) until a portion of the thermoplastic matrix composite sheet having the corrugation is below the melting temperature of the thermoplastic matrix to form the corrugated thermoplastic matrix composite sheet (10).

摘要: The purpose of the present invention is to achieve at least one of the following: preventing contamination of SMC manufacturing line, maintaining the cleanliness of mechanical elements included in SMC manufacturing apparatus, preventing failure of control equipment installed in or around SMC manufacturing apparatus, and preventing deterioration of working environment. The method of manufacturing a sheet molding compound, comprises (i) allowing short fiber bundles to fall onto a travelling carrier film, while dispersing the short fiber bundles using a dispersion roller device, thereby depositing a fiber mat on the carrier film, and (ii) impregnating the fiber mat with a thermosetting resin composition, wherein the dispersion roller device has a rotationally driven dispersion roll, bearings, a first side cover, and a second side cover, wherein the dispersion roll comprises a roll body and roll body-adjoining parts, and an inner circumferential surface of a circular opening provided in each of the first and second side covers and a cylindrical circumferential surface of each of the roll body-adjoining parts face each other.

摘要: Disclosed is a method of manufacturing an electrical isolation component which comprises overlaying an electrically-insulating outer ply comprising glass fibers on a core preform comprising reinforcing fibers and a thermoplastic matrix material and applying pressure to said outer ply and core preform, thereby causing consolidation of said reinforcing fibers and matrix material. Pressure is removed and said thermoplastic material hardens, thereby forming a laminate structure from the outer ply and the consolidated reinforcing fibers and matrix material. The reinforcing fibers and said glass fibers are formed of different materials. Also disclosed is an electrical isolation component having a core formed of reinforcing fibers embedded in a thermoplastic matrix material; and an electrically-insulating outer ply overlaying said core.
