The semifinished product of the finished glass product, such as a wine glass, moves in the production process on the production line attached through the base of the stem (3) and through the bowl (1). Through a reverse movement to the path of movement of the stem (3), the forming element moves (2) out and during the heating step contacts the softened stem (3) and pushes on it. The reverse movement of the forming element (2) is linear and/or rotational or it may be composed of rotation and sliding. The device for carrying out the method has a forming element (2), which is slidably placed in a holder (6). The movement mechanism moves forming element (2) into the path and out of the path of movement of the glass product on the production line. Forming element (2) has a contact zone with the rounded edges for contacting the heated and softened glass stem. Preferably the forming element (2) is fork-shaped with two arms (4) connected to each other by a part having a rounded edge. Forming element (2) tilts while rotating during contact with the heated, softened stem (3), by which contact it not only folds, but also twists the stem (3) at the same time. The result of pressing in a direction that is perpendicular to the movement of the glass product on the production line as well as the swinging movement around the axis has repetably precise, spatial deformation of the stem (3) while keepign the original position of the bowl (1) towards the base. Disclosed and claimed is also the finished, reshaped glass product produced, which by way of example may be a wine tasting glass or an ornate drinking glass, the product having smooth surafces where it has been joined (stem and bowl/base) and having a stem with a fold or bend, in which fodl/bend zone it is also twisted.

The invention relates to a method of forming a goblet from a glass bottle of the type having a base, a body portion extending from the base and converging towards a neck which terminates in a lip defining a mouth. The method comprises the steps of severing the base from the body portion along a first severance plane which is proximate the base and normal to a central axis of the bottle, and removing a waste portion of the body along a second severance plane which is parallel to the first severance plane. The mouth of the bottle is then glued or fused to a centre portion of an upper surface of the base so as to form the goblet, with the base of the bottle forming a foot of the goblet, the neck of the bottle forming a stem of the goblet and the body portion of the bottle defining a bowl of the goblet. The method may include the step of plugging the neck of the bottle so as to form a solid stem.

Firstly, the bowl (1 ) and the parison (3) of the stem (33) are shaped. A body (2) with different chromatic and/or visual features is placed to the plane of the joint of the parison (3) with the bowl (1 ); subsequently, the parison (3) is pressed and welded to the bowl (1 ) during the heat. The body (2) is surrounded by the glass melt from the parison (3) and/or the bowl (1 ) while the parison (3) is pushed to the bowl (1 ). This placement allows that the body (2) is, after the pushing of the parison (3) to the bowl (1 ), connected to the mass of the parison (3) as well as the bowl (1 ), whereby during the subsequent stretching of the parison (3) into the resulting form of the stem (33) the body (2) is also shaped into the resulting form of the stretched body (22). During the stretching of the parison (3) its stem, as well as the body (2), is prolonging and thinning, whereby the flow of the glass melt during the stretching smoothes the outer surface of the glass in the zone of welding of the parison (3) to the bowl (1 ). The body can be placed inside the plane of the joint together with the parison (3) on the end of which the body (2) is embedded; preferably the body (2) is embedded in such a way that it is inserted into the mold during the molding of the parison (3), whereby the glass melt is subsequently injected.
