A long-acting super-hydrophobic anticoagulant biological valve and a preparation method therefor. The preparation method includes the following steps: (1) treating a biological valve material with glutaraldehyde; (2) placing the biological valve material treated in step (1) into an acid liquid containing a polyphenol compound and metal ions, and adding an oxidant for reaction; and (3) reacting the biological valve material treated in step (2) with a hydrophobic substance. According to the method, a super-hydrophobic coating having a long-acting high water contact angle and a low rolling angle is prepared on the surface of the biological valve by means of a simple and stable operation process without affecting the performance of the valve body, and the requirements of long-acting anticoagulation are met by resisting the adsorption of plasma proteins.

The method further includes terminating the oxidative polymerization to form a post-termination reaction mixture; combining an aqueous solution comprising a chelant with the post-termination reaction mixture to form a chelation mixture including an aqueous phase having chelated copper ion, and an organic phase having dissolved poly(phenylene ether); separating the aqueous phase and the organic phase; and isolating the poly(phenylene ether) from the organic phase.

A method of preparing a poly(arylene ether) includes oxidatively coupling a monohydric phenol in a reaction solution at a reaction temperature that exceeds the cloud point temperature of the reaction solution. The oxidative coupling occurs in the presence of a metal complex catalyst, and when the catalyst includes an amine ligand, the method facilitates incorporation of the amine ligand into the poly(arylene ether) resin. The amine-incorporated poly(arylene ether) resins prepared by the method are useful in the preparation of higher molecular weight poly(arylene ether) resins and compatibilized blends of poly(arylene ether) resins with other thermoplastics.

A polyfunctional poly(arylene ether) resin may be prepared by a method that includes oxidatively copolymerizing a monohydric phenol and a polyhydric phenol in an aromatic hydrocarbon solvent in the presence of a catalyst comprising a metal ion and a nitrogen-containing ligand to form a solution comprising a polyfunctional poly(arylene ether) having an intrinsic viscosity of about 0.04 to about 0.3 deciliter per gram at 25°C in chloroform; and contacting the polyfunctional poly(arylene ether) solution with an aqueous solution of a chelating agent to extract the metal ion from the solution; wherein the chelating agent and metal ion are present in a molar ratio of about 1.0 to about 1.5. The method reduces the formation of a dispersion during the chelation step.
