An improved tray ration heating system includes a reservoir. A heat exchanger transfers heat to the reservoir. A firebox at one end of the reservoir has an opening to receive a burner flame tube. The firebox delivers heated gases from the burner flame tube along the underside of the reservoir to an opposite end of the reservoir. A main channel along the reservoir includes baffles which produce a tortuous path and introduce turbulence to, the hot gases. First and second channels adjacent to the main channel redirect hot gases exiting the main channel, and third and fourth channels direct hot gases exiting the first and second channels towards the opposite end of the reservoir. An exhaust channel extends along a vertical wall of the reservoir to an exhaust opening. The exhaust channel has baffles for displacing hot gases across the vertical wall. An insulated outer liner supports the reservoir and heat exchanger.

The invention relates to a method for cleaning the exhaust gases in heating installations with simultaneous heat recovery, which can be used for all kinds of liquid and solid fuels. The exhaust gas passes a heat exchanger (3; 103; 203; 403) and is subsequently at least partially sent through a perforated guiding element into a chamber (5; 105; 205; 405) with a spraying system (7; 107; 207; 407) for producing finely dispersed drops of water, where the pollutants contained in the exhaust gas are removed by spraying with the finely dispersed drops of water. The perforated guiding element may be pivotably mounted. With preference, the guiding element is an aperture plate (13; 113; 213; 413) or a perforated plate. The pollutants contained in the exhaust gas are removed initially by sprinkling and then by spraying with the finely distributed drops of water. The spraying direction of the finely distributed drops of water differs here from the direction of flow of the exhaust gas emerging from the perforated guiding element. The method may be additionally used for removing the dust deposits. The invention also relates to the device for carrying out the method.

The invention concerns an arrangement for indirectly transferring heat to a flowing process medium, in particular for carrying out hydrocarbon steam reformation. The arrangement comprises a heating chamber (1), which can be heated from above by burners (2) arranged in a plurality of rows, and through which chamber a plurality of rows of heat exchanger pipes (3) are led in vertical longitudinal planes, the process medium flowing through these pipes. The waste gases of combustion of the burners (2) are formed in waste gas ducts (4) of refractory material which are arranged parallel to one another and to the rows of the heat exchanger pipes (3) at the bottom of the heating chamber (1). The waste gas ducts (4) have a substantially rectangular cross-section which is constant in the axial direction, and are provided on their longitudinal sides, in the region close to the bottom, with openings (5) distributed over the entire axial length for transferring the waste gases from the heating chamber (1) into the interior of the respective waste gas duct (4). According to the invention, in order to equalize the waste gas flow ratios, flow-guiding on bodies are disposed in the region of the lower part of the rows of the heat exchanger pipes (3) inside the waste gas ducts (4).

A grate furnace for different kind of waste materials such as biomass, mud, and derived fuel, comprising a primary combustion chamber (2) and a secondary combustion chamber (3). A cooled grate (6) for fuel is arranged in the lower edge of the primary combustion chamber (2), and below the grate is provided air supply (5), arranged in a plurality of zones. Furthermore there are provided nozzles (15, 16) for the supply of air to the secondary chamber (3). The primary and the secondary combustion chambers (2, 3) are at least partly separated by a separation plate (10). The zones (5) are individually controllable and are supplied with air and recirculated flue gas, preferably with a high temperature. At least one of the nozzles (15) is adjustable and directed towards the primary air chamber (2), in order to ensure an annealing on the grate (6).
