It comprises: arranging an optical sensor in an inspection area through which food products conveyed by a conveyor belt pass; capturing, by the optical sensor, an image of the bakeable food products as they pass through the inspection area; identifying, by a processor module, a number of pixels in the captured image that correspond to a food product, based on a colour contrast threshold; determining, by the processor module, the presence of a product in the inspection area if the number of identified pixels is greater than a pre-established minimum threshold; and updating a product counter, adding one unit each time the presence of a product is determined.

An apparatus for determining density or number of living organisms in a flow is provided, said apparatus comprising a channel (6) for a flow of living organism, said channel comprising a flattened lane made from transparent material. The apparatus further comprises a light source (4) for projecting light through a stream of living organisms, said light source being positioned below the flattened lane. The apparatus further comprises an outlet, a computer, and an optical device (1). The optical device is positioned above and directed towards the flattened channel or lane, said optical device being positioned behind at least two mirrors (5) which reflect the light from the flattened lane, wherein the computer determines the density or amount of living organism based on the amount of light reflected detected by the optical device. A method for determining density or number of living organisms in a flow is also provided.

The present invention provides a method and apparatus for dispensing varying quantities of pills quickly, conveniently, securely, accurately operable to incorporate one or more sensors and at least two data sets for the purpose of monitoring the activity of transferring pills from a pill singulation to a bottle. For example, a counting means may be operable, in real-time or near-real time, to count the pills transferred to a bottle. A sensor array data-acquisition means may be utilized to facilitate the collection and monitoring of data relating to transfer of pills to a bottle. The counting means and sensor array data-acquisition means may be applied in a cooperative manner so as to facilitate examinations for the purpose of identifying pill events, such as overlapping pill dispensing, that have the potential to invalidate the counting means results.

One end of a long object is positioned by a first reference member, and the other end is positioned by a second reference member. There are arranged a resistance circuit that is constituted of resistors connected in series and where a resistor at one end is connected to a constant voltage source and a resistor at the other end grounded, detection circuits that are arranged at equal intervals along the long object and constituted of switches each whose one end is connected between adjacent resistors and the other end is connected to a detection terminal, and a switch driving means for turning on a switch provided on the second reference member. Voltages at the detection terminals of the detection circuits are measured, and the length or the quantity of the long object is measured according to the voltages.
