    摘要: An ESD protection device whose ESD characteristics are easily adjusted and stabilized and a method for manufacturing the ESD protection device are provided. An ESD protection device 10 includes (a) an insulating substrate 12, (b) a cavity 13 formed in the insulating substrate 12, (c) at least a pair of discharge electrodes 16 and 18 each including a portion exposed in the cavity 13, the exposed portions facing each other, and (d) external electrodes 22 and 24 formed on a surface of the insulating substrate 12 and connected to the discharge electrodes 16 and 18. A particulate supporting electrode material 30 with conductivity is dispersed between the exposed portions of the discharge electrodes 16 and 18 in the cavity 13.

In some embodiments, a plurality of GDTs can be fabricated from an insulator plate having a first side and a second side, with the insulator plate defining a plurality of openings. Each opening can be covered by first and second electrodes on the first and second sides of the insulator plate to thereby define an enclosed gas volume configured for GDT operation. Various examples related to such GDTs, including electrode configurations, opening configurations, pre-ionization features, grouping of a GDT with another GDT or device, and packaging configurations, are disclosed.

    摘要: An electrostatic discharge (ESD) protector includes a ceramic body having a cavity provided therein, and two discharge electrodes facing each other across the cavity. The discharge electrodes are made of metal containing more than 80 wt.% of tungsten. The discharge electrodes contain not more than 2.0 atomic % of tungsten bonded to oxygen to a total amount of tungsten contained in the discharge electrodes. This ESD protector does not cause a short-circuiting even upon having high-voltage static electricity applied to the discharge electrodes repetitively, thus having high reliability.

    摘要: A lightning arrestor insulator is provided having a discharge gap portion and an arrestor ZnO element device (5) both in the body of the insulator, comprising opposed projecting discharge electrodes (3a,3b) arranged inside the insulator body. The discharge gap portion is formed of a heat resistant protrusion (2) inside the insulator body surrounding the discharge electrodes (3a,3b), and a pair of metal plates and/or electrically conductive ceramic plates (4a,4b) sandwiching the protrusion (2) from both sides thereof and electrically connected to the discharge electrodes. The pair of plates (4a,4b) are joined and airtightly sealed to the protrusion via an inorganic glass (10a,10b). The arrestor has a highly reliable airtight fixing and sealing structure so that accidental troubles in a power supply or distribution line at a normal working voltage can be substantially eliminated, and damage caused by hygromeration and lightning can be noticeably decreased.
