Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling moisture evaporation from a leaf, a method for improving drought resistance of a plant and a method for screening a substance for improving drought resistance of a plant. SOLUTION: The invention provides a method for controlling moisture evaporation from a leaf by controlling the expression or activity of a sphingosine-1-phosphate phosphatase in plant cells, especially a method for suppressing moisture evaporation from a leaf by suppressing the expression or activity of the sphingosine-1-phosphate phosphatase in plant cells. The methods are applied for prolonging the service life of ornamental plants or creating a plant durable in dry environment (drought stress), because the method enhances drought resistance by suppressing moisture evaporation through stomata by suppressing expression or activity of the sphingosine-1-phosphate phosphatase. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an online communication system enabling a participant to easily record a comment, an impression or the like for a lecture or the like in addition to display of image data on a terminal in a remote communication system for realizing a remote meeting or remote lecture by performing interactive communications among a plurality of terminals in remote places through a network. SOLUTION: In the remote lecture system realizing a remote lecture among the terminals in remote places through the network, document data inputted by the participant (e.g., student) on the terminal are acquired, memorandums (37a and 37b) are created based on the acquired document data, and the created memorandums (37a and 37b) are displayed on a memo display area (37) on a screen (30) of the terminal to which the document data are inputted.
