Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device for a diesel engine efficiently activating an exhaust catalyst, in a diesel engine with a function recirculating part of exhaust to an intake system. SOLUTION: An ECU 80 for totally controlling an operational state of an engine 1 prohibits exhaust circulation through an EGR passage 60, and performs control (alternative control of low temperature combustion) to obtain an effect of an inner EGR by driving a VVT mechanism to effectively increase a temperature of a NOx catalyst disposed to an exhaust system 40, when following conditions are satisfied: heat supply to the NOx catalyst is required to activate the NOx disposed to the exhaust system 40 or to keep the NOx in an active state; and the preferred operational state of the engine is optimized by mixing an inactive gas into combustion gas.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently perform the NOx reduction of a storage/reduction type NOx catalyst by a simple structure. SOLUTION: In this exhaust emission control device of a hybrid vehicle having the storage/reduction type NOx catalyst in an exhaust passage and allowed to drive by either one of an engine and a motor, when NOx is releasably reduced from the storage/reduction type NOx catalyst while an EV is running by the motor (YES in step S100, YES in step S110), a throttle valve is roughly fully closed to restrict intake air (step S120), and the engine is rotated at a low speed following the process of the restriction to inject a fuel from a cylinder injection fuel injection valve into a cylinder (step S130) without performing ignition.
