PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diaphragm mechanism constituted of a small number of component parts and capable of accurately setting the position of a member for defining the edge of an aperture. SOLUTION: The diaphragm mechanism (2) is constituted of a diaphragm base plate (21), two diaphragm blades (22 and 23) and a motor (24), and the blades (22 and 23) can respectively rotate centering around pins (21a and 21b) erectly provided on the base plate (21). Two gears (22a and 22b) setting the pin (21a) as center and having the different radius of a pitch circle are provided on either blade (22), and a gear (23a) setting the pin (21b) as center is provided on the other blade (23), then a motor gear (25) is engaged with the gear (22b) and the gear (22a) is engaged with the gear (23a). PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the drawback that the height of a projector is unavoidably and considerably higher than the display screen height on the screen. SOLUTION: In a rear projection display device having a display device, a lighting optical system for lighting the display device, and a projection optical system for projecting the light from the display device to the screen, the device includes a plane mirror on the back side of the upper end part of the screen and a curved surface mirror on the backside of the lower end part of the screen on the opposite side of the plane mirror position, in which the light rays of the outermost area on the opposite side of the screen, among incident light fluxes from the curved surface mirror to the plane mirror, are substantially parallel to the screen. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector device in which handleability, safety, and stable projection are taken into account. SOLUTION: The electrical or mechanical characteristics of the projector device are made different according to a position where a projector projecting part 1 is located with respect to a projector base 2, that is, depending on whether the projector projecting part 1 is in a stored position or a projecting position. For example, when the projector projecting part 1 is in the projecting position, air inlets 13 are opened, and when the projector projecting part 1 is in the stored position, the air inlets 14 are closed. Abstract:
A pathlength matched prism assembly is constructed from Polarizing Beam Splitter optical components having varying degrees of precision by arranging them in pathlength matched positions and fixing them to a baseplate or frame. Gaps between the optical components are sealed by the frame or adhesive sealant. Planar optical elements are inserted between the optical components and space between the components and elements is filled with an optical coupling fluid having an index of refraction that closely matches the index of refraction of both components and elements. An expansion compensation device is attached to the prism assembly to compensate of expansion and contraction of the optical coupling fluid. The prism assembly is best suited for use in HDTV and High Definition video projectors.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a back mirror yielding more excellent anti-corrosive performance than the conventional back mirror. SOLUTION: The back mirror 30 equipped with a metal plated layer 2 and a topcoat layer 3 on the flat surface of base material 1 is constituted so that the side part of the bonded surface of the reflection film 2 with the base material 1 is perfectly covered with the topcoat layer 3 by removing the reflection film 2 on the side surface of the base material 1 after forming the reflection film 2 on the flat surface of the base material 1 by metal plating, or preventing the reflection film from being formed on the side surface of the base plate 1 from the beginning. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zoom lens for projection by which an optical modulator provided with a plurality elements for changing light reflection directions and generating an image projects an image to a screen. SOLUTION: A zoom lens system 5 is provided with a five-group configuration being negative-positive-positive-negative-positive from a screen side, including a fixed fifth lens group G5 arranged at a light bulb 2 side and used as a field lens through which light 11 for illumination and projection light 12 goes and a fixed first lens group G1 for focusing. In the lens system 5, a third lens group G3 moves largely during variable power, and a second lens group G2 and a fourth group G4 have small moving distance. Thereby, in the zoom lens system, the movement of an incident pupil with respect to the projection light outputted from the bulb light becomes small, effective projection light is efficiently engulfed, and a bright and clear image can be projected.
