Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To impart excellent wrinkle-proof properties to a protein fiber structure without damage to the intrinsic properties of the protein fiber, in other words, deterioration of the fabric hand and hue of the protein fiber, reduction in moisture absorption under high humidity conditions and without occurrence of trouble in its safety. SOLUTION: A bulky compound is introduced intermolecularly and/or intramolecularly into a protein fiber structure to increase the number of crosslinking bonds thereby producing the objective wrinkle-proof protein fiber structure. In the production of this wrinkle-proof protein fiber structure, a reducing agent is used to cleave the disulfide bonds intrinsically distributing in the protein fiber and a compound bearing a phenylene skeleton is introduced intermolecularly and/or intramolecularly into the resultant thiolated wool fiber to hinder the formation of hydrogen bonds in the protein fiber structure.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain effective deodorization and maintain the continuous effective time long without impairing the appearance in a vehicle by fitting a nonwoven fabric exerting deodorization performance for the mounting of a seat main body. SOLUTION: A nonwoven fabric 1 exerting a deodorizing function is stretched and fitted on the lower back face of the seat cushion 2 of a front seat S, i.e., on the bottom face on the side that the front seat S is installed on a floor F via a slide rail 3. When the nonwoven fabric 1 is formed into multiple layers, a water absorbing polymer-containing layer 11 entangled with a water absorbing polymer 10 in the nonwoven fabric 1 and a deodorizing nonwoven fabric 12 are laminated, and a polyethylene film 13 is laminated on the inner face side. Effective deodorization can be attained without giving a sense of incompatibility, and the uncomfortable odor of the air in a vehicle can be removed in a short time.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To impart shrink-resistance having laundry resistance, flexibility, hydrophobicity, touch, heat retaining properties and hygroscopicity to an animal hair by reacting a specific compound with the animal hair fiber in the presence of an acid catalyst. SOLUTION: This shrink-resistance animal hair fiber is obtained by reacting the animal hair fiber such as a wool, a cashmere, a camel, an angora, a mohair, an alpaca, a mink and a seal with a compound of the formula [R1 to R4 are each an alkyl or an alkylene obtained by bonding R1 with R2 to R4 ; R5 is H or an alkyl; (m) is 2-10], (preferably 1,1,9,9-tetramethoxynonane, 1,1,9,9- tetraethoxynonane or 1,1,9,9-bisethylenedioxynonane) in the presence of an acid catalyst.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare the subject material, having excellent durability, capable of exhibiting both antibacterial and fungicidal effects in extremely efficient manner and excellently effecting even against highly dense microbial pollution by using fibers containing a metal salt of a specific organic compound having fungicidal activity by itself. SOLUTION: This material is obtained by compounding an ion-exchange fiber of a polystyrene, a polyacrylamide a polyamide, carboxymethyl-modified cellulose, etc., with an antibacterial and fungicidal agent comprising a metal salt (preferably, a salt of silver, copper or zinc) of an organic compound such as a benzimidazole compound or a mercaptopyridine-N-oxide compound. For instance, one to three kinds selected from a silver salt, a copper salt and a zinc salt are added to a carboxymethyl- modified cellulose, and a compound selected from the antibacterial and fungicidal agents, an isothiazolone compound, a benzothiazole compound and a benzothiazolone compound is added into the salt-added carboxymethyl-modified cellulose under the condition of pH5-8. The obtained material is hardly soluble and highly stable, and the loss of the antimicrobial effect by water washing is extremely little. The material can be used as an air filter, a filter medium for an electric discharge machine filter or a liquid filtration medium.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a treating agent excellent in extensibility and heat resistance and suitable for a direct drawing method of polyester fibers by using a specific smoothing agent as a main ingredient and blending a thioether group-containing ester, a phenolic and a phosphite-based antioxidants, etc. SOLUTION: This synthetic fiber-treating agent comprises 30-70wt.% smoothing agent consisting of an ester prepared by combining a polyhydric or monohydric alcohol and a polycarboxylic or monocarboxylic acid, 0.5-5.0wt.% thioether group-containing ester compound, 0.1-3.0wt.% phenolic antioxidant and 0.1-3.0wt.% phosphite-based antioxidant as essential ingredients and is prepared by further blending 0.5-5.0wt.% secondary alkanesulfonate salt expressed by formula I (M is K or Na; R and R are each an alkyl and a sum number of carbon in both groups is 10-20) and 0.5-5.0wt.% amine salt of a phosphate expressed by formula II [R is a 6-26C alkyl, alkenyl or alkylphenyl; AO is a 2-4C alkylene oxide; R is RO(AO) or H; (m) is 0 or 1-10 integer] to the above ingredients.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a treating agent containing a diester compound of thiodipropionic acid with a monohydric alcohol, a nonionic surfactant, a sulfonate anionic surfactant and a specific component as main components, good in heat resistance, and useful for improving the drawability of fibers. CONSTITUTION: The treating agent for synthetic fibers contains a mixture in an amount of >=95wt.% based on the whole treating agent. The mixture comprises (A) 75-90wt.% of the diester compound of thiodipropionic acid with a monohydric alcohol, (B) 10-25wt.% of a nonionic surfactant comprising an ethylene oxide adduct to a polyhydric alcohol-fatty acid ester, a monocarboxylic acid and a dicarboxylic acid, (C) 0.3-5wt.% of the salt of an amine compound with the phosphate compound of an alcohol of the formula: RO(AO)mH (R is an 8-20C alkyl; AO is a 2-4C alkylene oxide; (m) is an integer of 0-10), and (D) 0.5-5wt.% of a sulfonate anionic surfactant. The treating agent can impart good flexibility, good heat resistance and excellent post processability to the synthetic fibers.
