    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for abrasive pads suitably used for polishing, etc. of semiconductor wafers, etc. which may self-supply grains liberated from the abrasive pads, and also provide an abrasive pad. SOLUTION: This composition for abrasive pads is obtained by kneading 44 vol.% polyvinyl alcohol as a water-soluble substance (including those having a water-absorption property) and 12 vol.% cerium oxide as a grain in a small kneader, subsequently adding 44 vol.% thermoplastic polyester elastomer as a water-insoluble substance and kneading these. The obtained composition for abrasive pads is mold-pressed to yield a disc body having a diameter of 30 cm and a thickness of 3 mm, the surface of the disc body is subjected to cutting and flattening by a milling machine, and grooves having a depth of 1 mm and a width of 1 mm are formed in 6.5 mm intervals to obtain the abrasive pad.
