Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a quenching method by which a cooling speed can surely increased.SOLUTION: A work is cooled while being vibrated at high speed in cooling liquid so that flow rate of the cooling liquid relative to the work becomes ≥1 m/sec. As a result, boiling bubbles wrapping the work in the boiling stage are surely and effectively stripped off, and the replacement of the cooling liquid on the work surface is promoted and the cooling speed of the work becomes high. Further, in the convection stage after the boiling stage, the cooling liquid on the work surface is replaced due to the above high speed vibration, thereby the cooling speed becomes high.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for gas carburizing, capable of performing heat treatment in a stable atmosphere and also reducing equipment cost.SOLUTION: Converted gas is produced using hydrocarbon gas, air and a catalyst, and low-COconverted gas which has a carbon potential higher than that of the converted gas and is reduced in COconcentration is produced. One of the converted gas, the low-COconverted gas and a gaseous mixture of the converted gas and the low-COconverted gas is used as atmospheric gas in a series of heat treatment processes for carburizing.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a member coated with a hard film which has adequate wear resistance and seizure resistance, is also superior in adhesiveness to a substrate and durability, and has high hardness, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The member has a chromium film functioning as an underlayer 2 formed on the substrate 1, has a plurality of chromium films and a plurality of nitrogen-containing chromium films formed on the underlayer 2 so that the chromium films functioning as stress relaxation layers 3 having an approximately same thickness of 40 nm or more and the nitrogen-containing chromium films functioning as hard layers 4 having an approximately same thickness of 250 nm or less are alternately arranged. The underlayer 2, the stress relaxation layer 3 and the hard layer 4 are continuously formed in a treatment chamber of an apparatus which sputters a chromium target therein. When the underlayer 2 and the stress relaxation layer 3 are formed, the treatment chamber is set at argon gas atmosphere, and when the hard layer 4 is formed, the treatment chamber is set at an atmosphere containing argon gas and nitrogen gas. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a member coated with a hard film which is excellent in adhesion between a base metal composed of a non-ferrous material, such as aluminum or aluminum alloy, and a hard film, such as a diamond-like carbon (DLC) film. SOLUTION: A nitrogen-containing chromium film, and a carbon-containing chromium film are successively formed on the surface of the base metal composed of the non-ferrous material, such as the aluminum or the aluminum alloy. The DLC film is formed as the hard film on the carbon-containing chromium film. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
