    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent a fiber bundle of a branched part from peeling and whitening, by a method wherein after lamination of a ring part, spoke part and boss part has been formed by winding a resin impregnated fiber round a winding form, fixation of the winding jig and a main spindle is released, a laminated fiber bundle of the spoke part is made to invert to the ring part and the winding form is left within a resin setting atmosphere as it is by fixing the winding form again. CONSTITUTION:A steering wheel core material 1 comprising a ring part 2, boss part 3, and spoke part 4 is formed through lamination by fixing boss metal fittings 30 to the tip of a main spindle 21 of a winding form 20 and winding a continuous long-sized fiber impregnated with resin round the boss metal fittings 30. Then fixation of a fixing part 22d of the main spindle of the winding jig 22, boss metal fittings 30 and main spindle 21 is released, the main spindle 21 is pulled out, a connecting plate 24 of arc-shaped parts 22a-22c is removed and the boss part 3 and spoke part 4 are made to invert to the opposite side of the ring part 2. Then the winding jig 22 and main spindle 21 are fixed again under a state wherein the boss metal fittings 30 and winding jig 22 are separated to some extent than a state wherein the fiber has been wound round the boss metal fittings 30 and left within resin setting atmosphere as they are by a method wherein the removed connecting plate 24 is fixed and the main spindle 21 is made to extend further after the main spindle 21 has been made to penetrate through a hole of the fixing part 22d of the main spindle from an auxiliary jig side and the boss metal fittings 30 have been fixed.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the strength and external appearance of a steering wheel by a method wherein the core material of the steering wheel is laminatingly molded by taking up a resin-impregnated continuous long fiber to a take-up mold and, after that, the laminated fiber bundles in spoke parts are covered by nearly cylindrical elastic members so as to fix the bundles by fastening the elastic members and finally the core material is cured in resin-setting atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:Firstly, the core material 10 of a steering wheel consisting off a ring part 11, spoke parts 12 and a boss part 13 is laminatingly molded by taking up a glass roving fiber, carbon roving fiber or the like, which is impregnated with polyester resin, epoxy resin or the like and supplied continuously, with a take-up mold 1. Secondly, the spoke parts 12 are covered by elastic tubes 20 made of silicone rubber or the like. Thirdly, under the state being properly shaped with the take-up mold 1, a boss piece 5, the elastic tubes 20 and the like, the core material 10 is cured by being left in an atmosphere to cure the impregnated resin. Finally, the take-up mold 1 and the elastic tubes 20 are removed from the cured core material. The resultant molded core material of the steering wheel has the spoke parts with high and uniform fiber density and the improved strength on twisting and shock and external appearance of the steering wheel are contrived.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To increase the strength near the branching portion of a steering wheel core member and to improve the safety at collision by a method in which when each half amount of continuous fiber bundle impregnated with resin is respectively wound up on a jig and a boss fitment, a rod member is pushed thereinto, and then residual continuous fiber bundle is wound. CONSTITUTION:The continuous fiber bundle 4 impregnated with resin successively wound in the groove 1a of a ring part molding jig 1. When the wound bundle amount reaches about half amount of necessary amount, a rod member 11 is pushed into the continuous fiber group 12 composed of the continuous fiber bundle 4 in the arrow A direction. Then, the residual continuous fiber bundle 4 is buried in the groove 1a in the winding jig 1. The jig 1 of upper and lower split type is opened, and the steering wheel core member is obtained. The obtained steering wheel core member provides the increased strength and remarkably improved safety obtained by the reinforcing action of the rod member at the adjacency to a branching portion.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To enable to twist continuous fiber bundle by a method wherein a resin impregnating tank is rotated at the desired winding position of a molding tool.
    CONSTITUTION: A bobbin 2, onto which continuous fiber bundle is wound, is attached in a resin impregnating tank 1, which can be rotated by means of a rotating shaft 4 installed on a rotating table 3. The continuous fiber bundle is drawn out of the liquid resin 6 in the resin impregnating tank 1, squeezed through a die 7 and wound onto a take-up unit. During manufacturing a structural body, when the fiber bundle 5 reaches a hook 9', the rotation of a main column 8 is stopped and at the same time the resin impregnating tank 1 is rotated by means of the rotating shaft 4, resulting in twisting the fiber bundle 5. Due to the twisting of the fiber bundle through the rotation of the whole resin impregnating tank, the twisting operation can be performed very easily.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a fibrous resin-structural material which is superior in mechanical characteristics, by a method wherein a structural material is formed by taking up a continuous long fiber impregnated with resin and heating and curing are made to perform after a jig has been made to revolve.
    CONSTITUTION: As for a continuous long fiber and synthetic resin which is made to impregnate into the fiber, articles to be used normally for an FRP (fiber-reinforced resin) product are used. A continuous high tensile glass fiber, for example, which has been made to impregnate with unsaturated polyester resin is taken up on a take-up jig 1 and a three dimensional structural material 2 is formed. The take-up jig 1 is fitted to a rotating shaft 4 of a centrifugal separator 3 and made to rotate in the direction of an arrow. The resin removed from the structural material 2 through centrifugal force is recovered through an unloading outlet 5 for reuse. Then the structural material 2 is made to heat and cure with a heating device. Mechanical characteristics of the product is improved as the excessive resin is removed from the structural material formed on the take-up jig through centrifugal force, it does not happen that the fiber is damaged or made to break and as the fibers are filled far thicker and voids which have been contained among fibers are reduced.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a lightweight steering wheel with satisfactory torsional rigidity by a method wherein a ring part and a spoke part are formed by winding resin-impregnated fiber on a take-up jig and to a boss piece and coating fiber bundles are diagonally wound around the spoke part and resin impregnated in the fiber is hardened by heating. CONSTITUTION:A ring part 6 is laminated by winding resin-impregnated fiber bundle 5 on a take-up jig 1 by rotating a rotary shaft 3, while a spoke part 8 is laminated by winding the bundle 5 from one notched part 7 to a boss piece 4 and back to the other notched part 7 and on the jig 1. Further, coating fiber bundles 12 and 13 are laminated by respectively spanning to spacers 10 and 11 of a supporting plate 9 in the same manner as mentioned above with respect to the boss piece 4. After the rotary shaft 3 is removed, the fiber bundle 12 is wound around the spoke part 8 in a counterclockwise direction with respect to the boss piece 4 so as to make a helix angle of +alpha deg. to the axis line of the spoke part 8. Further, after that, the fiber bundle 13 is wound also around the spoke part 8 in a clockwise direction with respect to the boss piece 4 so as to make a helix angle of -beta deg. to the axis line of the spoke part 8 in order for its end part 15 to hook to the boss piece 4 finally. After the completion of the formation of the spoke part, the rotary shaft 3 is assembled to the take-up jig by inserting the boss piece 4 onto the tip part of the rotary shaft 3. After that, impregnated resin is hardened by heating in order to obtain a reinforced body by releasing from a mold.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a light-weight steering wheel having practically sufficient tortional rigidity by applying in advance a tortional force in the same direction as external force to one-way oriented fibers. CONSTITUTION:A rotary tool 9 is turned to rotate a winding tool 5 in the direction of arrow, and fibers 2 impregnated with a resin are wound around the tool 5 once. Afterwards, the fibers 2 are wound around a boss tool 11 through notches 8. The processes are repeated to laminate a given number of fibers 2 to form a core material 1. After lamination, the tool 9 is removed out, the boss metal tool 11 is turned, and the fibers 2 in the spoke portion 4 are twisted toward one direction which coincides with the direction of distorting the spoke portion 4 by external force, where the left and right sides are in the opposite directions. The core material 1 is heated to harden the resin in such a way as to prevent the restoration of twist, the metal tool 11 is fixed, and the core material 1 is covered with resin and molded at a give temperature and under a given pressure to obtain a product. By adding the twisting' process, the tortional rigidity of the core material can be raised, enabling it to overcome tortional torque to be generated by external forces.
