PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress image defect caused by opposite-polarity toner, to maintain a normal image forming operation, and to ensure satisfactory image quality and the life of each means even in long-term use. SOLUTION: The fixing device 14 has a fixing roller 31 which is in contact with an unfixed image formed of toner 93 on a recording material 91, and a pressure roller 32 pressure welded to the fixing roller 31. The fixing device 14 fixes the unfixed image on the recording material 91 to the recording material 91 by conveying the recording material 91 with the fixing roller 31 and the pressure roller 32 while gripping the recording material 91 between them. The fixing device 14 applies a holding electric field in the direction in which toner 92 having a polarity opposite to the toner 93, from which the image on the recording material 91 is formed, is held on the recording material 91, thus preventing a defect caused by the opposite-polarity toner 92 sticking to the pressure roller 32. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heating device capable of improving thermal efficiency even if being equipped with an external heating member heating the heating member so that the temperature of the heating member heating a material to be heated becomes a prescribed temperature, and to provide an image forming device equipped with the same. SOLUTION: A fixing device comprises a heating roller 231 and a pressure roller 232 pressure-contacting to each other, and a recording paper P is heated by passing the recording paper P through a fixing nip Y. An external heating roller 233 circumscribes the pressure roller 232 and rotates together with the pressure roller 232, and heats the heating roller 231 so that the temperature of the surface of the heating roller 231 become a prescribed temperature. A heating nip passing time necessary for an arbitrary point on the rotating pressure roller 232 to pass through a heating nip Y is decided depending on a material and a capacity of the external heating roller 233, power consumption by the fixing unit and the surface temperature of the external heating roller 233 during a time in which the recording paper P passes through the fixing nip. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device where the temperature distribution in the shaft direction of a rotary body is uniformized by restraining excessive temperature rise in the paper non-passing area of the rotary body, which realizes the shortening of the rise time of fixing operation and energy saving, and whose configuration is simple. SOLUTION: The fixing device is equipped with a heating rotary body 1 heated by a heating member, a pressure rotary body 2 sliding in contact with the rotary body 1 and forming a fixing nip part between the rotary body 1 and the rotary body 2, and fixes an unfixed toner image on the surface of recording paper to which the unfixed toner image is transferred by heating/pressuring the recording paper while holding and carrying it by the fixing nip part. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and a monochrome image forming method by which the speeding-up of monochrome printing is realized while keeping image processing speed in monochrome printing the same as image processing speed in multicolor printing. SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus is equipped with an endless photoreceptor belt 1 stretched between a plurality of image forming parts 20a to 20d, LSUs 3a to 3d exposing the belt 1 based on image data, and developing devices 4a to 4d developing the exposed part. When a monochrome image is formed using the black developing device 4d, a carrying belt 8 is in a retreated state with respect to the image forming parts 20a to 20c. When the monochrome image is formed, an electrostatic latent image based on the image data is successively formed on the belt 1 by using the LSUs 3a to 3d. The electrostatic latent image formed on the belt 1 is collectively developed by the developing device 4d.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing apparatus which properly fixes toner to various recording sheets, while improving thermal efficiency and reducing power consumption.SOLUTION: A fixing apparatus includes: a rotatable fixing roller; a heating unit arranged near an outer periphery of the fixing roller; a fixing belt rotatably suspended on the fixing roller and the heating unit; and a pressure roller which is rotatably arranged in a position opposite to the fixing roller to form a nip part with the fixing roller via the fixing belt. The heating unit includes a film-like heating element, and a heat transfer plate which holds the heating element in a circular-arc manner. Heat of the heating element is transferred to the fixing belt which rotates while sliding on the heat transfer plate, via the heat transfer plate. By conveying a recording sheet having an unfixed toner image to the nip part, the unfixed toner image is fixed to the recording sheet.
