Abstract: PURPOSE: To decrease the moisture absorption of polybenzimidazole to thereby obtain excellent electrical insulating properties by forming a film of a polymer having specific repeating units. CONSTITUTION: A film of an N-ethylated polybenzimidazole having repeating units of formula III is formed by casting a solvent (e.g. N,N-dimenthylacetamide) soln. of a substd. polybenzimidazole on a metal part and thermally drying the cast soln. at about 350 deg.C. The substd. polybenzimidazole is a polymer having repeating units of formula I (wherein R1 is a tetravalent atom. ring substituted with an N atom; R2 is a divalent 2-20C aliph., alicyclic, or arom. group; and R3 and R4 are each a hydrophobic group such as H, alkyl, or aryl provided all the R3 's sand R 's are not simultaneously H) and/or formula II (wherein R5 is an arom. ring of which adjacent two carbon atoms are bonded to the two N atoms to form a benzimidazole ring; and R6 is a hydrophobic group such as H, alkyl, or aryl provided all the R6 's are not simultaneously H).

Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a polymorphic crystal of piretanide having high biological availability and suitable for the use as an oral administration agent and injection. CONSTITUTION: This polymorphic crystal of piretanide exhibits an endothermic peak at about 132 deg.C, an exothermic peak at about 143 deg.C and a melting peak at 224 deg.C by differential thermal analysis, 2θ diffraction peaks at 10.5, 12.2, 15.6, 19.1, 19.9, 22.0, 22.8, 25.6 and 30.6' by powder X-ray diffraction and characteristic peaks at about 1700cm and 3200-3500cm by infrared absorption spectrum. This invention also relates to a process for the production of the piretanide. The solubility of the polymorphic crystal of piretanide in acidic and especially neutral aqueous solution is higher than that of the known piretanide crystal.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To securely discriminate the kinds of organic gases. CONSTITUTION: n units (n>=m) of detectors 21 to 2m are prepared along a fuel steam passage 1 in which desired fuel steams of m kinds (m>=2) of fuel steams are passed. The respective detectors 21 to 2m are provided with a light source part 21E, a sensor member 21S that shows an intrinsic reflection characteristic against one of m kinds of different fuel steams, and a detecting part 21D that outputs a signal with such a level according to the intensity of reflection light after receiving the reflection light from the member 21S. Then, the signals outputting from respective detecting parts 21D to 2mD are compared with each other, so the kind of fuel steams introduced to the passage 1 is identified.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a polybenzimidazole coated metal part having tensile break strength and tensile elongation at break and excellent in metal close adhesiveness by forming a film based on polybenzimidazole with a high mol.wt. characterized by that a relative number average mol.wt. with respect to polystyrene is a specific value or more and intrinsic viscosity is a specific value or more. CONSTITUTION: A polybenzimidazole coated metal part is composed of various metals, for example, aluminum, copper or stainless steel or alloys thereof and obtained by forming a film based on high mol.wt. polybenzimidazole wherein a relative number average mol.wt. with respect to polystyrene is 90000 or more and intrinsic viscosity is 0.9 or more on a linear, roll-shaped, plate-shaped or spherical metal part. The film based on polybenzimidazole is formed on the metal part by coating the metal part with a soln. based on polybenzimidazole, for example, by dip coating, electrostatic painting, spray coating or roll painting.

CONSTITUTION: A pattern is formed by irradiating a thin film of polyallylenevinylene polymer shown by a formula [Ar represents a substituted or unsubstituted bivalent aromatic hydrocarbon group or a substituted or unsubstituted heterocycle group which may be a fused ring. n is an integer of 2 or above. It may be any integer higher than 1 but preferablyit is 5 to 30000 and more preferably it is 10 to 10000]. Consequently, the intensity of fluorescence can be decreased stepwise at the irradiated part and a fluorescent pattern can be formed on the thin film of polyallylenevinylene polymer. This method realizes an organic electroluminescence element including a thin film having a fluorescent pattern.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a hypotenslve agent capable of suppressing the Ca inflow into a cell and reducing the blood pressure. CONSTITUTION:This hypotensive agent contains urinastatin which is a glycoprotein, obtained by separation and purification thereof from the human urine and having 67000 molecular weight as an active ingredient. The hypotensive agent is usually administered in a daily dose of 10000-500000 units, preferably 200000-300000 units for an adult male and 10000-100000 units at a time by intravenous injection or drip. Since the urinastatin is an in vivo substance and a Ca blocker utilizing the physiological Ca regulating mechanism in the living body, it can more safely be used than a conventional Ca blocker.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide an org. molecular crystalline body having good crystallinity and workability and having molecule arrangement which is suitable for an optical wavelength conversion element and is free from inversion symmetry. CONSTITUTION:This org. molecular crystalline body consists of the compd. expressed by formula, is the tetragonal crystal system and belongs to a space group P41. This compd. is an N-(4-aminobenzene sulfonyl) acetoamide having a nonlinear optical effect and can be generally synthesized by known methods. The compd. in which part or the whole of the hydrogen is cleuterated may be used in place of the compd. The compd. in which part or the whole of the hydrogen is deuterated may be used together with the compd. The org. molecular crystalline body has extremely high transmittability in a blue light region and has no inversion symmetry in the molecular arrangement and, therefore, has a quadratic nonlinear optical effect. The growth of the extremely large crystal in a short period is easy and the crystal is extremely advantageous in the production process characteristic.
