    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid high molecular fuel cell which can decrease deterioration in output properties over aging by imparting durable water repellency to an electrode. SOLUTION: An electrode containing a reaction product obtained by a reaction of a silane compound in which a isocyanate radical or a hydrolytic radical and fluorine containing organic radical are attached to the silicon atom in the presence of water and also containing catalyst powders and an ion exchange resin is used. Especially an electrode in which the catalyst powders are surface- treaded with the silane compound is used.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a surface treatment composition excellent in water repellency, stainproofness and capability for rolling down water droplets by incorporating, into the same, (A) a silicone compound, (B) a silicon compound, and/or (C) a partial cohydrolyzate of a fluorine-containing silicone compound and a silicon compound. SOLUTION: This composition contains (A) a silicone compound, (B) a silicon compound, and/or (C) a partial cohydrolyzate of a fluorine-containing silicone compound and a silicon compound represented by formula III. Ingredient A is a compound selected from among fluorine-containing silicone compounds each consisting essentially of organosiloxane units each containing a monovalent fluorine-containing organic group represented by formula I and organosiloxane units each having a monovalent silicon- containing organic group represented by formula II and their partial hydrolyzates. Ingredient B is a compound selected from among silicon compounds represented by formula III and their partial hydrolyzates. In the formulas, Rf is a monovalent polyfluorohydrocarbon group or the like; X is a divalent hydrocarbon group or the like; R1 and R20 are each a monovalent organic group; Y1 and Y2 are each a monovalent hydrolyzable group or the like; a>=1; b is 1-3; and j is 1-4.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably obtain a high quality water-repellent thin film in a large amt. by applying an excessive amt. of a coating liquid for the formation of a water-repellent thin film on the surface of a substrate such as glass and removing the excess coating material. SOLUTION: The base body consists of glass, metal, ceramic material, resin, etc., and especially, glass is preferable because the a glass base body has hydroxyl groups on the surface and firmly bonds with a water-repellent liquid to form a transparent thin film. The water-repellent liquid contains a perfluoro group- contg. compd., preferably a perfluoro group-contg. silane compd. and its hydrolyzed condensed material. As for the coating means of the water-repellent liquid, squeegee coating method is preferably used. After the water-repellent liquid is dropped on the surface of the base body, an elastic, preferably a sponge squeegee is used to spread the liquid. After coating, the liquid is dried for 1 to 25 hours to bond to the substrate. The excess coating material is removed by wiping till color irregularity or haze disappears. Especially, it is preferable to spray a starch-contg. powder which can adsorp the excess coating material and then to remove by using a brush or the like.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a high performance low resistance film which is not colored, is transparent and is excellent in conductivity by a low temp. heat treatment by allowing a coating liquid to contain Ag particulates having a specified particle size and Ag salt. SOLUTION: The Ag particulates having a mean particle size above 10nm and Ag salt are at least contained in the coating liquid for the low resistance film formation. Silver nitrate, silver acetate, silver sulfate, silver cyanide, etc., are usable as the Ag salt. A coating liquid for the low refractive index film formation is formed by incorporating a silicon compound into this coating film, if necessary. Absorption in the region of approx. 400 to 500nm of the film caused by the optical plasma resonance absorption of Ag particulates themselves is suppressed by using the Ag salt for the coating liquid. Further, the Ag salt is diffused as Ag ions to promote the particle growth of Ag particulates which form the film in the heating or ultraviolet rays irradiation at the time of the formed film hardening process. The concentration of the Ag particulates in the coating liquid is preferably 0.01 to 5wt.% or thereabouts.
