Abstract: A blood vessel ultrasonic image measuring method capable of facilitating the positioning of an ultrasonic probe and acquiring sufficient positioning accuracy is provided. Because of inclusion of an around-X-axis positioning step of causing a multiaxis driving device 26 to position an ultrasonic probe 24, 120, 112 such that distances from respective ultrasonic array probes to the center of a blood vessel 20 are equalized, and an X-axis direction positioning step and an around-Z-axis positioning step of causing the multiaxis driving device 26 to position the ultrasonic probe 24, 102, 112 such that the image of the blood vessel 20 is positioned at the center portion in the width direction of the first short axis image display area G1 and the second short axis image display area G2, the positioning may be performed by using the positions in the longitudinal direction of the ultrasonic array probes relative to the blood vessel 20 or the distances of the ultrasonic array probes to the blood vessel 20 and, therefore, the ultrasonic probe 24, 102, 112 may simply and easily be positioned on the blood vessel 20 of a living body 14 with higher accuracy.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a transducer arrangement, particularly a transducer arrangement for acquiring tissue information, a method for using a transducer arrangement for acquiring tissue information and a glove which comprises a transducer arrangement. The transducer arrangement 21 for analysing material 40 comprises: a first transducer element 51 for inducing and receiving mechanical displacements in the material to be analysed 40; and an analysing unit 30. The transducer arrangement is arranged such as to be flexible in order to conform with a curved surface of the material to be analysed 40; and the transducer arrangement 21 is adapted to derive a first signal from a low frequency spectrum of mechanical displacements which first signal correlates to sono-elastographical properties of a material to be analysed 40; and the transducer arrangement 21 is adapted to derive a second signal from a high frequency spectrum of mechanical displacements received by the first transducer element 51 which second signal correlates to ultrasonic properties of a material to be analysed 40. With a transducer arrangement according to the invention it may be possible to generate information about the topographical anatomy and information about elastical properties of the material to be analyzed in parallel, whereby the transducer arrangement may be adapted to the unevenness of the material's surface optimally due to its flexibility which may allow the examiner or user of the transducer arrangement to analyze regions which normally may have an uneven surface profile, which may only be reached with difficulty or whose examination may cause inconvenience to the examiner as well as to the person that is being examined.

Abstract: An intracavity ultrasound probe includes a pivotally mounted array transducer which is oscillated to scan a volumetric region from within the body. The transducer is oscillated by a motor located in the probe handle. The array transducer is immersed in a liquid which acoustically couples ultrasonic energy between the elements of the transducer and the body. The acoustic coupling liquid is located in the distal tip of the probe shaft, where only 6 cc of liquid is required. The small amount of liquid reduces the weight of the shaft of the probe so that the center of gravity of the probe is in the handle, making the probe comfortable and easy to manipulate. The majority of parts in the probe shaft are made of aluminum or other low density materials, keeping the overall weight of the probe to about 250 grams.
