PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a therapeutic for chronic pain such as phantom limb pain, neuropathic pain, diabetic neuropathy, post-herpetic neuralgia, carpal tunnel syndrome, HIV neuropathy, and complex regional pain syndrome, and neuropathic pain selected from hyperpathia, hyperalgesia, neuropathy, diabetic neuropathy, neuritis, neuralgia, hyperesthesia, causalgia, and allodynia.SOLUTION: A compound which is crystalline forms of 4-[2-(4-methylphenyl-sulfanyl)-phenyl]piperidine and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof in a crystalline form is provided. The 4-[2-(4-methylphenylsulfanyl)-phenyl]piperidine is, in addition to the already known pharmacological profile, a potent inhibitor of the serotonin reuptake and the norepinephrine reuptake, an antagonist of a serotonin receptor 3(5-HT), an antagonist of the serotonin receptor 2A(5-HT), and an inhibitor of the αadrenergic receptor, and the compound may as such be useful in treatment of e.g. chronic of pain.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method for giving an aqueous potassium lactate solution having an improved organoleptic properties, and to provide a food product or a beverage product containing the aqueous potassium lactate solution.SOLUTION: The invention relates to a method for the preparation of a potassium lactate solution wherein a first potassium lactate solution having a potassium lactate concentration less than 65 wt.% is concentrated by evaporation to a solution having a potassium lactate concentration from 65 wt.% to 85 wt.%, and subsequently separated. The method wherein the evaporation is performed by a plate-type evaporation process in two steps, optionally in two distillation apparatuses and the evaporation is preceded or followed by treatment of the solution with active carbon is provided.
