Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an osmotic dose delivery system in a tablet form, capable of effectively delivering the therapeutically effective dosage of medicines of a wide range by a controlled rate and also for a long period of time without requiring a polymer pushing out medicinal particles to an intended using environment physically by swelling or expanding in the wall of the tablet.SOLUTION: The osmotic dose delivery system consists of (a) a semipermeable wall maintaining a perfect state while delivering prepared medicine and also having at least one flow pathway through the same and (b) a single uniform composition in the wall. The composition is characterized by basically consisting of (i) a prepared medicinally active agent, (ii) at least one non-swellable solubilizing agent enhancing the dissolvability of the prepared medicinal active agent, (iii) at least one non-swelling permeating agent and (iv) a non-swelling wicking agent enhancing the contact of the prepared medicine with flowing-in aqueous liquid in a surface region and being dispersed in the whole of the composition.

A pharmaceutical composition of a pharmaceutically acceptable trospium salt, with upon administration to a human patient generates an average steady state blood levels of trospium with a minimum (C min ) and maximum (C max ) blood levels of about 0.5-2.5 ng/ml and about 2.0-6.0 ng/ml, respectively.
