PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus enabled to prevent a defect such as a moisture proof member not placed when a sheet that is easy to absorb moisture and likely to cause sticking is used for image formation.SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a moisture-proof sheet 6 that can be placed in a covering position covering, and contacting, a top sheet S2 of a storage sheet pile S1 stacked on a support plate 103; and an electrode pair 7 for detecting whether the moisture-proof sheet 6 is placed in the covering position. The image forming apparatus 10 also includes a notification unit (input part and display part) for notifying whether the moisture-proof sheet 6 is placed in the covering position on the basis of the detection by the electrode pair 7. The notification unit issues a warning if the moisture-proof sheet 6 is not placed in the covering position, thereby preventing a failure such as the moisture-proof sheet 6 not placed when an easy-to-stick sheet is used for image formation.
