Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile apparatus capable of continuing a reading even when the space region of a storage medium is insufficient during the reading of a transmission original, a facsimile transmission method, and a facsimile transmission program. SOLUTION: The facsimile apparatus has a deleting means for deleting either one of a color image data or a monochromatic image data from a storage medium when the space region of the storage medium is insufficient during the reading of the transmission original by a reading means. The facsimile apparatus further has a transmission means for facsimile-transmitting the color image data when whether or not an on-transmission opposite apparatus can receive the color image data is decided, and the apparatus can receive the color image data and the color image data is stored in the storage medium, and facsimile-transmitting the monochromatic image data when the apparatus cannot receive the color image data or the color image data is deleted from the storage medium. An image processing function that is used when selecting a print object in direct printing, is used to decode and display the stored JPEG thumbnail image data 83A, 83B, 83C and to select a desired image (96-97). Main image data of the desired image are obtained by main scanning of the original sheet 81, JPEG conversion is applied thereto and JPEG main image data and thumbnail image data are stored in an external medium 3 in an EXIF form.
