    摘要: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-domain vertical alignment mode liquid crystal display wherein an image persistence phenomenon hardly occurs and display quality is excellent and to provide a color filter and an array substrate with which such a liquid crystal display can be manufactured. SOLUTION: In the multi-domain vertical alignment mode liquid crystal display, a protrusion for controlling the alignment direction of liquid crystal molecules in a liquid crystal layer formed between a pair of substrates opposed to each other in a plurality of directions is provided on at least one substrate and the protrusion has electric characteristics of a specific dielectric constant of =3×10 S/cm dielectric constant.

    摘要: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color filter including a colored layer having colored parts of a plurality of colors repetitively aligned in order, which can provide a viewing angle extending function and reduce optical leak detectable by an observer in its combined use with a liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: The color filter includes a colored layer having colored parts of a plurality of colors aligned in order with at least one direction as a repeating direction, and a birefringent function layer having polymerizable liquid crystal molecules fixed thereto while being oriented in a desired direction, which are laminated directly or indirectly on a translucent substrate in this order. The colored layer includes a colored part of a color in which an outline shape of a vertical section cut in the repeating direction is substantially bilaterally symmetric and a colored part of a color in which the outline shape is substantially bilaterally asymmetric, and the color of the bilaterally asymmetric colored part is a color which has the lowest luminance when the color filter is bright-displayed for each of the plurality of colors.
