PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for identifying a change produced in at least one biological parameter as a result. SOLUTION: This method for identifying the change produced in at least one of the biological parameter as a result comprises conducting a comparative proteome analysis, a comparative transcriptome analysis and/or a comparative genome analysis on (a) a young living cell, (b) an aged living cell, and (c) at least one of the above two kinds of the cells used in a three-dimensional tissue model, so as to make it possible to identify at least one of the biological parameter in which the change is further produced by aging of the cell as a result. The method is used for screening a source of activity. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for screening an active substrate that controls morbid, disorderly and/or nonfunctional elastic fiber formation. SOLUTION: The method for inducing the activity of a lysyl oxidase isoform, preferably a LOX isoform (an isoform of the lysyl oxidase), is provided. Particularly, this method is useful for active substrates that control elastic fiber formation in the case of fibrosis, ray elastosis, striae cutis and/or dystrophy scar. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrated lamellar phase or a liposome which promotes intracellular penetration; to obtain a cosmetic or pharmaceutical composition containing the hydrated lamellar phase or the liposome; and to provide a method for screening such substance. SOLUTION: The hydrated lamellar phase or liposome contains either a polyethylenimine, or a substance which stimulates the intracellular penetration and selected from the group consisting of a fatty monoamine of a 10-18C carbon-containing chain length and a cationic polymer, optionally at least one fluorescent compound which is essentially inert with respect to the intracellular penetration, which enables this penetration to be visualised. The cosmetic composition and the pharmaceutical composition use the hydrated lamellar phase or liposome. A substance held in the hydrated lamellar phase or in the liposome, or a substance potentially having the ability for stimulating the intercellular penetration of an active ingredient is screened by detecting the intercellular penetration of at least the fluorescent compound by measuring the intercellular fluorescence by using the hydrated lamellar phase or the liposome. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a screening method for providing a composition capable of stimulating the formation of elastic fibers. SOLUTION: Lysyl oxidase-like isoform (also called as LOXL) or its derivative or a component which promotes the activity and/or the expression of LOXL is used for the production of the composition for stimulating the formation of elastic fibers. The expression of LOXL is either the expression of a nucleotide sequence coding LOXL or the expression of a peptide sequence constituting a part of the protein LOXL. The above composition is a cosmetic composition, a nutritional supplement composition, a medical treatment composition or a pharmaceutical composition. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI

SOLUTION: This method for identifying the change produced in at least one of the biological parameter as the result comprises conducting a comparative proteome analysis, a comparative transcriptome analysis and/or a comparative genome analysis on (a) a living cell under stress called as a stress cell, (b) a living cell of the same kind free from the stress called as a control cell, and (c) at least one of the above two kinds of the cells used in a three-dimensional tissue model, so as to make it possible to identify at least one of the biological parameter in which the change is produced by the stress as the result.
