Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas discharge tube capable of obtaining high brightness, surely generating discharge and maintaining it for a long period.
SOLUTION: The gas discharge tube generating discharge between an anode part 24 and a cathode part 56 arranged in a sealed container 12, in which gas is sealed, comprises a cylindrical discharge channel restraining part 28 arranged between the anode part and the cathode part, having a through-hole 42 narrowing a discharge channel between the anode part and the cathode part; and a discharge shielding part 50 arranged so as to surround the periphery of the discharge channel restraining part, electrically insulated from the discharge channel restraining part. A cathode part side end part of the discharge channel restraining part is made to protrude with a prescribed protrusion amount from a face at a cathode part side of the discharge shielding part, and an anode part side end part of the discharge channel restraining part is made to extend into a space 62 at the side where the anode part is located by a prescribed amount. An area of high electron density is formed only at a part of the cathode part side of the through-hole of the discharge channel restraining part. An amount of substance evaporated from the anode part is reduced by surely generating a starting discharge and properly radiating the heat from the anode part.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas discharge tube wherein a startup property is made better while realizing a high luminance. SOLUTION: In a gas discharge tube 1, a convergence electrode part 14 and an electricity discharge restriction part 30 are electrically insulated, and the discharge restriction part 30 has a discharge restriction opening 31 to oppose to a concave part 16 for arc ball molding, thereby formation of a discharge path from a negative electrode part 20 to the concave part 16 is made to be sure, and accompanied with this, it becomes possible to generate a startup discharge surely. Further, by the discharge restriction opening 31 made to be opposed to the concave part 16, an arc ball S can be continued to maintain an appropriate shape, and a stabilization of luminance and amount of light can be aimed at by enabling a stable molding of the arc ball S.
