Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize traffic jams which may urge the succeeding vehicles to run slowly or stop for a long period of time still after the leading vehicles start with elimination of the cause urging running slowly or stopping.
SOLUTION: An inter-vehicle distance measuring device 3 provided in front of a vehicle 1 measures the inter-vehicle distance between the vehicle 1 and a vehicle 2 running in front, and when the inter-vehicle distance between the vehicles 1 and 2 is below a constant distance fixed on the basis of the acceleration performance of the vehicle 1, a determination device 4 makes an alarm device 5 of the vehicle 1 operate. Since causes of traffic jams may be due to time delay for recovering the inter-vehicle distance at starting as the inter-vehicle distance to the preceding vehicle is made small during running slowly or stopping, an alarm is also sounded during running slowly or stopping.
