Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a painting die for a flat square enamel wire, along with a method of manufacturing a flat square enamel wire using it, capable of stably forming an insulation film having a constant film thickness around the entire circumference of a flat square conductor while suppressing unwanted thickness deviation phenomenon.SOLUTION: The painting die for painting an insulation paint around a flat square wire, has a plurality of die components having a groove at a predetermined position in an arrangement in which, with an air gap part whose cross section is square being provided so that the flat square wire is inserted, the groove is disposed at a position to face the surface of the flat square wire inserted in the air gap part. The groove that is disposed at the position facing a corner region of the flat square wire is smaller than the groove disposed at the position facing a flat region of the flat square wire.
