Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oil outlet for removing oil from a rolling mill bearing. SOLUTION: In an oil film bearing for a rolling mill, in which a bushing is fixed within a choke, the bushing has an internal bearing surface surrounding a rotating journal surface of a roll, and oil is introduced into a gap between the journal and bearing surfaces. After the thus introduced oil is rotatably propelled by the rotating journal surfaces, the oil is discharged tangentially from both ends of the gap. The oil outlet includes a cover defining a groove adjacent to one end of the gap. The groove is positioned and configured to receive the oil discharged from the gap and to redirect the oil along a circular path. An outlet passageway communicates with the groove. The passageway is arranged substantially tangentially to the circular path to receive the oil discharged from the groove. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oil film bearing equipped with a compact hydraulic attachment section. SOLUTION: An oil film bearing 10 is arranged in that an inside of cylinder 38 is divided into a first chamber 42 and second chamber 44 by a piston 32, in that a sleeve ring 46 contacts to an end of sleeve 12, and in that an annular thrust component 48 is sandwiched between the sleeve ring 46 and portion adjacent to the cylinder 38 so that it may partially lap over these portions. Additionally, its mechanism is characterized in that the cylinder 38 is advanced in axial direction when the first chamber 42 is pressurized so that the sleeve 12 may be located at its seat position through a thrust constituting component 48 and the sleeve ring 46, and in that the cylinder 38 is retreated in the axial direction when the second chamber 44 is pressurized, then, the sleeve 12 is moved in a direction to which it is pulled out from the seat position through chock assembly 26, 28, and 30 and busing 24. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved sleeve which can be used for an oil film bearing of the type adopted to support a roll neck of a rolling machine rotatably. SOLUTION: This sleeve is provided with an internal taper portion, an end portion properly adjusted in the axial direction and a cylindrical outer surface portion surrounding the internal taper portion. The cylindrical outer surface portion having at least 500 mm in diameter D is accommodated to act as a journal part rotatably within a bush part of the bearing. The internal taper portion having a tapered angle exceeding 3 degrees and a minimum thickness of the range between about 10 mm-0.024D+14.5 mm is accommodated to fit into an external taper portion of the roll neck. A key groove being disposed only in the outside end portion of the internal taper portion is used to fix the sleeve to the roll neck rotatably.
