SOLUTION: This polyether imide dehumidifying membrane is suitable for dehumidification in compressed air and consists of a hollow fiber membrane produced from polyether imide. The dehumidifying device is produced by preparing a module of the hollow fiber membrane in such a manner that air containing water vapor supplied through the entrance of the module is dehumidified by the hollow fiber membrane and discharged through a primary air exit (module exit) as a dry air, while the water vapor removed is permeated through the hollow fiber membrane and discharged through a secondary side on the module cylinder. The hollow fiber membrane used is produced by dry and wet spinning of a spinning source liquid containing 18 to 30 wt.% polyether imide dissolved. The inner surface of the hollow fiber membrane is preferably coated with a polyvinylpyrrolidone. If necessary, the hollow fiber membrane is impregnated with a moisture holding agent.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent water to be treated from flowing out to a secondary side while keeping the degassing efficiency of a porous membrane, in degassing dissolved oxygen in water by allowing water to be treated to flow through a hollow yarn membrane, while reducing pressure on the outer space side of the hollow yarn membrane by using a porous hollow yarn membrane made of polyvinylidene fluoride having a specific pore size as the hollow yarn membrane. CONSTITUTION:Water 1 to be treated is allowed to flow through the porous hollow yarn membranes 5,57 made of polyvinylidene fluoride of a hollow yarn membrane module 4 through a pump 2 and a flowmeter 3. The hollow yarn membrane module 4 is connected to a vacuum pump 7 through a vacuum meter 6 and pressure is reduced on the outer space side of the hollow yarn membranes in the module 4 by operating the vacuum pump 7 to degass and remove the dissolved gas in water to be treated to take out degassed water 8 from a line 9. Herein, as each of the hollow yarn membranes, a porous hollow yarn membrane made of polyvinylidene fluoride having a pore size of about 0.1mum or less is used. By this constitution, no water to be treated flows out to a secondary side even under high vacuum while the degassing efficiency of the porous membrane is kept.

CONSTITUTION:A dope solution prepared by dissolving a polyvinylidene fluoride in a liquid mixture consisting of a polyvinylidene fluoride soluble main solvent such as dimethylacetamide, a ketone type co-solvent such as acetone and a hydroxyl group-containing non solvent such as methanol is used. Further, a ketone type co-solvent is used as a core solution and a soluble main solvent is used as a coagulation bath to perform dry/wet spinning or wet spinning to obtain a porous hollow yarn membrane which is, in turn, washed and dried. Next, this porous membrane is stretched in a dry state, a water wetting state or a wet state due to a liquid such as a water-soluble org. solvent, for example, methanol and dried. By this method, a hollow yarn membrane having a uniform membrane structure is obtained.
