PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve user-friendliness by extending a backlight lighting time when there is a high possibility that a user uses a portable telephone while avoiding the problem that the backlight is continuously lighted when the user does not use the portable telephone. SOLUTION: The portable telephone 1 includes: a display portion 11 having the backlight 111; an operating portion 12 for detecting an input; a posture detecting portion 13 for detecting a posture of the portable telephone 1; and a backlight control portion 14 for lighting the backlight 111 when receiving the input from the operating portion 12, and putting out the backlight 111 when there is no input from the operating portion 12 for a predetermined time from when receiving an input from the operating portion 12. The backlight control portion 14 extends a lighting time of the backlight 111 when continuously detecting the same posture from when receiving the input from the operating portion 12 more than when continuously detecting no same posture from when receiving the input from the operating portion 12. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic instrument 301 able to maintain the best display quality for a display part 106 with respect to the electric instrument 301 by altering the setting of the luminance of the display part 106 with respect to the brightness of the electronic instrument 301, detected by a brightness detecting part 102.SOLUTION: In a temperature detecting part 103, the ambient temperature of an electronic instrument 301 is detected, one of a plurality of luminance tables prepared according to the detected temperatures is selected, a selected luminance table is referred to for a luminance set value with respect to brightness detected by a brightness detecting part 102, and the luminance of a display part 106 is adjusted by a display drive part 105.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct color irregularities and an image persistence phenomenon induced by difference in luminance degradation of a self light emission element. SOLUTION: In this self-light emission display device, comparison circuits 106a, 106b, 106c compare luminances of self-light emission elements 103a, 103b, 103c detected by optical sensors 104a, 104b, 104c with a reference value of luminance stored in a memory 105. A shutter control part 107 controls opening rate of shutters 108a, 108b, 108c based on the results of comparison by the comparison circuits 106a, 106b, 106c. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
