    SOLUTION: The portable telephone 1 includes: a display portion 11 having the backlight 111; an operating portion 12 for detecting an input; a posture detecting portion 13 for detecting a posture of the portable telephone 1; and a backlight control portion 14 for lighting the backlight 111 when receiving the input from the operating portion 12, and putting out the backlight 111 when there is no input from the operating portion 12 for a predetermined time from when receiving an input from the operating portion 12. The backlight control portion 14 extends a lighting time of the backlight 111 when continuously detecting the same posture from when receiving the input from the operating portion 12 more than when continuously detecting no same posture from when receiving the input from the operating portion 12.
