When a printing image is a color image or a color printing frequency is a predetermined level or higher, non-printing discharge conditions of all colors corresponding to respective printing frequencies are selected from the non-printing discharge condition table set in advance to perform non-printing discharge operations for all colors.

The liquid ejection device includes the plurality of the liquid storage members 201 and each of the liquid storage members 201 has an ink storage chamber 430 and a waste liquid chamber 420 and is provided with a control valve 409 which moves in linkage with ink consumption in the ink storage chamber 430 and changes a passage resistance to the waste liquid chamber 420. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of driving an inkjet recording head wherein controlling of vibration is carried out, residual vibration is suppressed, an ink droplet is stably ejected by maintaining the ejection speed of the ink droplet and the volume of the ink droplet in an adequate level, thereby preventing quality of an image from being lowered, and to provide an inkjet recorder. SOLUTION: In this method of driving the inkjet recording head, variation in a pressure is generated in a pressure generating chamber filled with ink by a pressure generating element and an ink droplet is ejected from a nozzle communicating with the pressure generating chamber. The method includes at least a first signal A for ejecting the ink droplet by contracting the pressure generating chamber, a second signal B for maintaining the contracting condition of the pressure generating chamber and a third signal C for suppressing residual vibration of a meniscus after the ejection of the ink droplet by contracting or expanding the pressure generating chamber.
