    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering control device for a vehicle to execute suitable steering control from the time at which control is started by a method wherein combination of a relative angle sensor and an absolute angle sensor from a point of view of control is used as a detecting sensor. SOLUTION: A working angle sensor is provided to detect the working angle of the actuator of a transmission ratio varying mechanism by an absolute angle. A working angle θm0 detected by a working angle sensor is stored during completion of control (S122). During reopening of control, based on the working angle θm0 and a transmission ratio G0, the absolute angle θh0 of a steering handle is estimated (S104).

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable mounting of a transmission ratio variable mechanism without a large change in the existing structure by constructing a steering shaft of a forward end shaft part, intermediate shaft part and rear end shaft part connected mutually in series under a bent state via a joint member, and providing a transmission variable mechanism at the intermediate shaft part. SOLUTION: A steering shaft is constructed of a forward end shaft part, rear end shaft part, and an intermediate shaft part 300 connecting the two to each other. The forward end shaft part is connected to the intermediate shaft part 300 and the rear end shaft part is connected to the intermediate shaft part 300 in a bent state via constant velocity joints 50, 60, respectively. A drive motor for a transmission ratio variable mechanism composed of a stator 321 and a rotor 322 is constructed at the inner side of cylinder surface of a housing 310 constituting the intermediate shaft part 300. In the vicinity of the intermediate shaft part 300, a mounting space is relatively acquired. Accordingly, with the provision of the transmission ratio variable mechanism at the intermediate shaft part 300, the purpose is attained.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering response characteristic according to a change in a motion characteristic by providing a transmission ratio varying means provided in the midway of a steering transmission system for connecting a steering wheel with a steering wheel for varying a transmission ratio between the steering amount of the steering wheel and the steering amount of the steering wheel based on a wheel state. SOLUTION: A variable gear ratio unit 14 varies a transmission ratio between the steering amount of a steering wheel 10 and the steering amounts of steering wheels 24FL and 24FR, and is provided with a motor and a reduction gear using a planetary gear mechanism, a harmonic drive mechanism or the like. This transmission ratio is defined by (steering amount of the steering wheel 10)/(steering amounts of the steering wheels 24FL and 24FR). Also, the variable gear ratio unit 14 is connected to an ECU 30 via a motor driver 36, and operated by receiving the control signal of this ECU 30. When a wheel state is changed to change the motion characteristic of the vehicle, the transmission ratio of the steering transmission system is changed according to the vehicle state.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set a preferable transmission ratio appropriate for steering operation during turning that involves acceleration or deceleration by determining a correction amount for a basic transmission ratio based on a steering state while a vehicle is in acceleration/deceleration state, and setting the transmission ratio of a transmission ratio variable mechanism. SOLUTION: A steering control unit 70 sets a transmission ratio G of a transmission ratio variable mechanism 30 based on a basic transmission value Gbase which is set according to a vehicle speed V and correction amount α which is set according to a steering state and an acceleration/deceleration state of a vehicle. When the steering wheel is turned, the correction amount α is set to -α0 and when the steering wheel is returned, the correction amount α is set to α0 . Accordingly, when turning the steering wheel during acceleration/deceleration, the transmission ratio becomes more quick than the basic transmission ratio Gbase and a steer amount of the steering wheel when turning can be reduced. When returning the steering wheel during acceleration/deceleration, the basic transmission ratio Gbase becomes more slow, so that a turning angle of a wheel for the same steering angle is directed to a position closer to a neutral position, thereby the steering wheel steer amount during returning is reduced.

The ECU 46 determines the theoretical value of the gear ratio by the speed detected by the speed sensor 48, compares the value with a target steering angle and corrects deviation, and deviation of a neutral point can be eliminated by operational controlled variable.

Thus, it is regulatable that the inner tube 14 is displaced to the wedge lock 54 side during unlocking of a lock. This constitution prevents the generation of noise when the inner tube 14 is brought into contact with the wedge lock 54 during unlocking of a lock and enables smooth relative movement of the inner tube 14 to the outer tube 12.
