    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a cast iron-made counterpart material wherein the coefficient of friction is high and stabilized even if a carbon material shoe is used. CONSTITUTION:In brake counterpart materials for performing the brake action by being brought in slide-contact with a carbon material shoe, one out of them is formed by a surface oxide film formed by heating and oxidizing a cast iron- made main body and the main body front surface, and the sliding surface with which the carbon material shoe is to be brought in slide-contact with is formed by the front surface of the surface oxide film. The other one is formed by a cast iron containing nickel of 10 to 50wt.%. The cast iron-made brake counterpart containing substantial amounts of nickel and the brake material counterpart material taking the front surface of the oxide film as the sliding surface have the high coefficient of friction in relation to the carbon material shoe. The reason whey they have the high coefficient of friction is not revealed. However, it is conceivable that the coefficient of friction is high and stabilized by carbon transferred on the sliding surface on the basis of the supposition that transferring of carbon to the sliding surface is observed from the extremely early stages.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a clearance adjusting film layer having good productivity at a low cost, by forming the bed layer of silicone system resin after applying short-blast on a housing, and forming the film layer of a silicone system resin including ceramic balloons and ceramic fibers. CONSTITUTION:Shot blast is applied on a part 6 opposing to the impeller of a compressor housing 5, and then degreasing cleaning and drying are applied thereon. After bed paint made of silicone system resin including color pigment and corrosion preventing pigment is applied thereon, it is dried so as to form a bed layer 7d. Film paint made of silicone system resin including ceramic balloons 7a and ceramic fibers 7b is applied on the bed layer 7d, and after that, it is dried so as to form a film layer 7f. In the clearance adjusting film layer 7f, since cutting resistance by an impeller is smaller in comparison with that of the layer formed by a flame sprayed material, and the layer 7f is formed by brush painting or spray painting, it is thus possible to form the film layer if a low cost, improve its productivity, and reduce unevenness of the film.

CONSTITUTION:At the time of producing a wear resistant sliding member on which a wear resistant thermally sprayed layer is formed by means of arc spraying of Fe-C material, a gas prepared by mixing CO gas into air is used as a spraying gas for arc spraying, By this method, the oxidizing reaction of C in the Fe-C material is inhibited by the powerful reducing action of the CO gas and the degree of decarburization is reduced, and sufficient amounts of C can be secured in the thermally sprayed layer. CONSTITUTION:In a cylinder head 1 which is made of casted iron and used for a Diesel engine equipped with a subcombusion chamber, a ceramic metallization film 5 for shielding heat is formed in a region including a part between a suction hole 2, exhaust hole 3, and a chamber hole 4. In this case, the metallization film 5 is formed to a position separated by a specific distance of 1-5mm for the edge of the chamber hole 4 from the side of a between-valve part. In a part 11 which ranges to the edge of the chamber hole 4 from the above- described position, a basic material forming the cylinder head 1 is exposed. Further, at the edge part on the chamber hole 4 side of the metallization film 5, the surface is formed substantially levelled for the surface of the exposed part of the chamber hole peripheral edge part 11 of the cylinder head 1.

CONSTITUTION:The flame spraying material is produced by forming the metal coating layer 21 composing of metal selected from Ni, Cr and Co or alloy at these two or more kinds around the ceramic grain 20 composing of partially stabilized zirconia (ZrO2.Y2O3, etc.,). Then, the size of the ceramic grain 20 is made in the range of 10-125mu and the metal coating layer 21 is made in the range of 10-50wt.%. At the time of flame spraying this flame spraying material on the base material 24, the coating layer 21 is melted and the ceramic grain 20 is flame-sprayed under non-melting or semi-melting condition, and the obtd. cermet layer 23 is covered with the metal layer 21A around the ceramic grain 20 and made to firmly combined condition. By this method, the cermet layer 23 having sufficient durability to the repeating of heating and cooling.

CONSTITUTION:The thermally sprayed substrate layer 2 of an Ni-based alloy, etc., having good adhesion to ceramics is formed on the surface of the metallic base material 1. The first ceramic thermally sprayed layer 3 consisting of zirconia is then formed thereon, and the second ceramic thermally sprayed layer 4 consisting of >=1 kind among alumina, titania, or spinel is formed thereon. Alternatively, a grated thermally sprayed layer 5 consisting of >=1 kind among zirconia, alumina, titania, and spinel and wherein the zirconia content is decreased from the first thermally sprayed layer 3 side to the surface side is formed on the first thermally sprayed layer 3, and then the above-mentioned second thermally sprayed layer 4 is formed. By this method, the infiltration of the external air is prevented, and the release of the ceramic thermally sprayed layer due to the oxidation and corrosion of the thermally sprayed substrate layer 2 can be prevented.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a titled thermal-sprayed member which is optimum as a member to be used in par part where heating and cooling are repeated in a high-temp. corrosive atmosphere, by laminating and forming an underlying thermal-sprayed layer on the surface of a base material consisting of a metal and intermediate layer consisting of carbide or nitride between the base material and oxide ceramic thermal-sprayed layer on the outermost surface thereof. CONSTITUTION:The underlying thermal-sprayed layer 2 consisting of an Ni-base alloy, etc., is formed on the surface of the base material 1 consisting of an Al alloy, etc., to form the above-mentioned ceramic thermal-sprayed member. The intermediate layer 5 consisting of the carbide (e.g.: ZrC, etc.) or nitride (e.g.: ZrN, etc.) is provided between said layer 2 and the ceramic thermal-sprayed layer 3 consisting of the oxide ceramics (e.g.: ZrO2, etc.) on the outermost surface side. The carbide or nitride of said intermediate layer 5 has generally an easy tendency to a change to the oxide when exposed to the high-temp. corrosive atmosphere. The oxide layer 6 of the figure, therefore, has the porous structure of high porosity when subjected to the repetition of heating and cooling. Said layer is provided with the excellent heat resistance and heat insulating characteristic and exhibits the functions similar to the functions of the upper thermal-sprayed layer 3.

Thermally sprayed layer superior in sticking force of the metal 4 with the layers 5A and 5B is formed.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the stripping or falling of a thermally sprayed ceramic layer formed on a part heated to a high temp. by making the ceramic layer discontinuous so as to relieve shearing stress produced on the interface between the ceramic layer and the base material of the part. CONSTITUTION:A ceramic material having low heat conductivity is thermally sprayed on the part of a piston 1 heated to a high temp. such as a portion of demarticating combustion chamber to form a thermally sprayed ceramic layer 3. At this time, the layer 3 is made discontinuous 5 on the surface of the base material 1a of the part. Shearing stress produced on the interface between the base material 1a and the thermally sprayed ceramic layer 3 which improves the heat resistance and heat insulation of the material 1a is relieved, so the stripping or falling of the layer 3 is prevented.
