Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dissolve the complexity of inner/outer loop electric power control in using a fractional dedicated physical channel (F-DPCH).SOLUTION: Based on a signal strength or quality of a standard channel signal, and an estimate value of a gain factor about a control channel signal and the standard channel signal, an electric power control feedback of the control channel signal received together with the standard channel signal is generated. As a non-restrictive example shown in a context of extensive belt CDMA (WCDMA (R)), the standard channel signal includes a common pilot channel (CPICH) signal, and the control channel signal includes an F-DPCH signal to be transmitted by an electric power gain (unknown) to the CPICH signal.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an advantageous uplink power control about the set of uplink channels to be transmitted by a mobile terminal.SOLUTION: A total reception power about the set of uplink channels to be transmitted by a mobile terminal is maintained to a target reception power or its periphery, and reception signal quality about the subset of the channels is also maintained to target reception signal quality or its periphery. The subset includes a control channel at a fixed rate, and the set includes the control channel and a traffic channel at a variable rate. A base station generates a first power control command for maintaining the reception signal quality of the control channel to any quality target or its periphery, and generates a second power control command for maintaining the total reception power (of two channels) to any power target or its periphery.
