Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cap for a skin puncturing device and a method related thereto. SOLUTION: The cap for the skin puncturing device comprises a fixing clamp and a ring-like cap body. The fixing clamp is equipped with a proximal end constituted so as to engage with the skin puncturing device, a distal end having a cap body engaging mechanism and an opening portion. The ring-like cap body has a distal compressing surface; the opening portion is hemmed, to be firmly and rotatably engaged with the cap body engaging mechanism. When a force is applied to the distal compressing surface during the use of the cap, the ring-like cap body rotates while firmly engaged with the fixing clamp (inwardly with respect to the opening portion, for example). PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a miniaturized device capable of continuously and stably extracting an interstitial fluid sample. SOLUTION: The method of extracting the interstitial fluid (ISF) from a target region of the body of a user comprises a process of adhesively attaching a movable ring of a sampling module for extracting the interstitial fluid to a position adjacent to the target region in the body, a process of attaching the sampling module to the movable ring, and a process of attaching the sapling module to the body. After that, the target region is penetrated by a penetrating member of the sampling module, and after that, another adjacent part of the target region is pressed by a compression ring of the sampling module. A lancet for pricking a user's skin, the lancet comprising a body of a substantially rigid plastics material, a needle having one end embedded in said body, leaving the other end including a sharpened needle tip to protrude from the body; and a flexible plastics cover covering the entire exposed length of the needle, the cover being formed of such material and with such dimensions that an axial force applied to the cover relative to the body causes at least an axial portion of the cover to concertina along the needle, thereby exposing the needle tip.
